I'm not a fan of the sound of the open dump personally...I'll be trying this recirc dp out on mine

I was thinking about one of those. But this car will get the FP single scroll housing when I go to a 2.3L, so I'll just deal with it when I get to that point..

lovely numbers and a real clean, simple set up imo. how does one go about getting the red w/ mhi? have to send in your stock evo 9 turbo to fp?

Thanks! I'm already thinking of selling it though lol. I want to go back to something more responsive for autocross. Probably go back to the stock final drive as well. I went with this for track days. After doing one and seeing the tire and brake wear, I realized I can't really afford it. Oh well..

You can order one right now for $2600 from their website.

Edited my post.

IMO, it's the perfect turbo for certain application.

i realize that a 2.3L will help with responsiveness, but these two statements seem a bit inconsistent. i think whatever transient response is gained from the 2.3L will be lost on single scroll. check out dallas_j's build for his auto-x setup.

I took it too an autocross in current form and realized it's a not a good setup. I'm going to try a stock final drive with the red, if it's still too laggy, I'm switching setups. I originally bought the turbo and 4.11 final drive with plans for track days, but I can't afford to do them often enough to make them worth it.

I've talked to two local vegas guys that have built 2.0L's with the 71hta, and they make a bit more torque then a I currently do, with a little less top end power, and much faster spoolup. The 71hta will work much better for autocross, and will still work fine on the track, just won't have as much power with a "road course" tune..

Sorry to hear this setup isn't working out for you. Hopefully the stock FD will help.

Meh, my mistake. It's a great setup for the stock block and destroying people on the street or tearing up canyon roads. But I want to get back into autocross, and it just can't do it.

Well hopefully the 71hta will get you to where you wanna be. I just called FP to see if they had any 84mm FAP covers in stock for the 71hta. As of right now they do and I'm seriously considering getting one. They're also only selling the new 71hta's with the 84mm cover.

Nice. I'm debating between a Blouch 1.0 and the 71hta. It'll be a decision based on budget to be able to do rods/pistons at the same time when it comes time to do it once I sell the red. That is IF going back to the stock final drive doesn't help enough.

Would you go 1.0XT or 1.0XTR?

Available funds would also dictate that. I'm hoping the Red would bring in a very good amount if I part with it, it very well should IMO. Once they aren't on sale with FP in a few weeks, they cost over $3k with the ported MHI hot-side. And then go from there with whatever money I have saved up, and selling the 4.11 final drive since I still have my stock one to put back in. So at least that's not costing me money to go back, just the loss on selling the gear set used, and time..

I mentioned that the 4.11 was too tall for a 2.0 in another thread. Its great for driving around and the roadcourse but everything else its not so great at on a 2.0. I've run my car on a 25" tire/4.11 and it works out to be 8% taller then stock. I think 5% taller then stock would be pretty good compromise with an evo 8 first gear. Mfactory makes a 4.31 ratio that I think I'm going to get if a small stroker doesn't help enough.
The factory FD makes 1st and 2nd pretty short with a 25" tire. I had the equivalent of that before and it was annoying.
What size tire are you running? What 1st gear do you have? If you are running a taller then stock tire then the factory FD should work out.
