Post exact weights of weight reduction you have done!
Update on the car weight.
Further weight reduction:
Further weight reduction:
- Girodisc front 2-piece floating rotors
- AMS Mustache Bar eliminator
- pulled all carpet in front seat area
- pulled & cut away as much sound deadening from under the dash as I could reach
I'd guess about 3021 w/o driver (aka dry).
bumper...I am working on pulling weight right now...Pulled out a bunch of miscellaneous brackets and plastic clips and whatnot out of the engine bay...I removed all the EGR stuff a while ago and just pulled the hard EGR line going from the front of the car to the back off tonight...I plan on jumping under the dash tomorrow and pulling out some miscellaneous brackets and whatnot that aren't needed...I've been thinking about buying some dry ice and taking all the sound deadening material out but not sure if I want to do that yet...At the moment I will not remove any radio equipment, AC, P/S...BUT I do want to remove my ACD reservoir, pump and other related items, I have literally used the ACD a hand full of times in 5 yrs...I know by doing this I will need to switch to a non-acd t-case...Once my 6 spd tranny goes out, I will be throwing in a built 5 spd and will do a built non-acd t-case at the same time...I am trying to do all the free non-ridiculous weight reduction mods first and when $$ becomes available do other stuff like...
BR Light weight center member
BR Mustache bar
BR Rear diff side supports with poly bushings
AWD Aluminum driveshaft
CF hood & trunk (Maybe??)
Light Weight wheels (Enkei RPF1s)
I finally got a chance to read through this whole thread...I see a lot of the pics and whatnot have been removed or just aren't here anymore...Anyway to get some of those pics posted back up or anyone want to post some new pics of stuff they have been doing or have done??

I'm not anticipating much weight savings by doing this—I think I'll be lucky to get rid of 2.5 pounds this way.
Some trunklid related weights for ya:
OEM Evo 9 trunk, graphite gray, no wing/latch/lock assembly, w/ 6 mounting bolts, 4 rubber stops & euro “Evolution IX” badge – 21.33 lb.
Robispec/Fiber Images carbon fiber trunklid – 6 lb, 10.0 oz (6.625 lb)
CF trunklid hardware for hinges & latch mechanism (SAE) – .163 lb (75 grams)
Total carbon trunklid weight = 6.79 lb.
OEM Evo 9 rear wing – 7.26 lb.
APR GTC-300 CF wing w supports, 61” width – 11.98 lb.
OEM Evo 9 trunk springs (2, w plastic “muffler” clip) – 1.19 lb.
I'll be gutting everything but the support section that seals to the trunk weather stripping. No latch, no hinges, just figuring out how I want to secure it, thinking either DZUS fasteners or maybe a little aluminum hook on top and then an aerocatch or something on the back . I'm considering gluing a little 3/8" angle aluminum or something to the back of the skin to help support it without really adding any weight also.
I'm trying to find a lancer that would be interested in an EVO trunk + wing to maybe grab a few $$$ on the change while I'm at it.

Interesting...Looking forward to pics once you start working on it...
Going to be putting my Evo on a diet - thinking about running in the new RallyCross program modeled after what the Euro guys do. With me in the car, I'm at 3165 with a 1/4 tank of fuel, so somehow I need to find 165 lbs to remove.
Thinking that some of that weight might have to come from me too. LOL
I'll be starting another thread detailing what's going on with the car, but will try to remember to check in here with any good weight tips.
Evo IX - 2935 lbs 62.8% front weight bias
Interior fully gutted - but have OEM dash & HVAC box
AMS moustache bar eliminator
AMS lightweight front cross member
Fiber Images carbon hood & trunk
Things currently installed making my weight higher than your standard gutted street car:
Custom Cages FIA spec rally cage (~105 lbs)
Ohlins TTX/TPX gravel spec coilovers (idk weight difference but suspect they're heavier than OEM)
3/16" aluminum skid plate (~40 lbs ish?)
steel bracket welded to radiator support to attach skid plate to (~5-10 lbs)
full size Optima battery (~45 lbs)
Dave

I weighed the dash bar, 19.8 pounds.
From what I hear, you can get about 4-5 pounds out of it without affecting anything.
Rear Engine Mount uincluding hardware and sub-frame bracket
7.2 pounds
Coolant water neck, hardware, thermostat, and sensors
2.0 pounds

I'm piecing together a GT series turbo charger targeted at high 40 lb/min airflow capability while being as light as possible. Will include a thin wall, long runner manifold, V-band turbine housing and other goodies. I'll update this post as I piece it together. I am hoping to have the turbo, wastegate, manifold, turbo support and O2 housing system weigh in under 25 pounds with an optimistic goal of 22 pounds, making it as light as the stock turbo without the manifold and O2 housing.
Tial MV-S wastegate - 2.5 pounds
Includes flanges, clamps, water and air fittings

I've been working on some weight reduction over the past 2 weeks...
Tar Sound Deadening & some of the Firewall padding - 15 lbs
Rear Crash Beam - 17lbs
Box of Misc. brackets and other crap pulled from the engine bay - 6 lbs
Fortune Auto Ti Lug Nuts - 1.5 lbs (Stock 3 lbs)
Rear Wiper Assembly, Drive Shaft Tunnel Heat Shield, Hard EGR line, Power Steering Cooler tube, Rear 02 sensor - 8 lbs
DC Titanium Strut Tower Bars (Front & Rear) - 4-5lbs (OEM Front Strut Bar & Tein Rear 10lbs)
ETS Mini Battery kit (Odyseey Battery) - 20 lbs? ---Sold
New battery setup...Braille 11.5 lb battery with the Braille battery tie down...Battery tray is made out of 12 gauge SS that I designed and built myself...Don't know the total weight yet but I'm guessing around 15 lbs or so...
Also, I sold my powder coated BBSs with tires last weekend, so its time to pick up another wheel and tire setup...My BBSs and tires were around 44-44.5 lbs...I have decided to go with black 17 x 8.5 or 9" Enkei RPF1s (16 lbs each) with some 255/40/17 tires...I am looking at 2 different tires...Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110 (25 lbs each) and the Continental ExtremeContact DW (23 lbs each)...I've read a lot of good reviews on the Hankooks and Neal @ Tirerack actually recommended the DWs....anyone have feedback on either of those tires?!?
Just so everyone knows what I am looking for...I want to go with a tire that will make my wheel and tire setup together around 40-41 lbs at most. My car is not my DD. These tires will not see an autox or track event as I have another set of rims and tires for that. I want them to be a good wet & dry tire. These will see some spirited driving and 1/4 mile time. I cut pretty consistant 1.6 60 fts with other tires I have owned and would like to keep it that way (RT 615s & Nitto 555s).
