How about deleting the oil cooler? That should save a few pounds? Do you guys think this would hurt with it still being a street car? It doesn't get drove much at the longest maybe a 100 mile round trip

MP-Fab had made me a few things. give him a call. tell him light weight dan sent you.

other then that its basically using your own imagination.

as for removing the oil cooler i dont know man. i want to do it but im a ***** i guess. haha. i know guys run without them and have no issues bla bla bla. but imo it has to do something on the ''pro'' side to want to keep it.

Oh ok yea I will definately give him a call haha lightweight dan sounds like a boxing champion . As far as my imagination goes it sucks but I guess Ill get with the guys at my shop and see what we can come up with. They just did a full aluminum exhaust on their rs and it was light as crap. I think for the cost that might be a good idea and maybe do the oil cooler delete on down the road. Ive been looking at sparco sprint 5 seats but kinda am having trouble finding a goo deal. Have you dropped your e brake yet? I was thinking about that too I think mine isnt releasing all the way. I did some reading and found out the 4g63 block is lighter thatn the 4g64 so Im definately sticking with that and when my motor was built I put a manley crank which was a little bit lighter than stock. I ordered that godspeed swaybar tonight but was actually kinda wondering about just leaving it off? Any suggestion on that? I know when I took my strut brace off I couldnt tell any difference. Damn Im addicted to weight reduction haha now I just gotta keep myself away from mcdonalds and Ill be good to go

i love McDonalds. haha.

i would keep the sway bars on the car if you drive it on the streets. buy light weight sway bars ''like you did''. i do not run the stock front upper strut brace. actually most guys dont. yes i removed my E-Brake setup stuff but i have the hydraulic setup. saved 9 or 10lbs i believe it was. the sprint 5 seats with mounting and no sliders your looking at 21/22lbs. NRG is 15/16 lbs. stock with sliders are 37.X lbs.

Lol I've been eating McDonald's chicken nuggets goin on 24 years haha. The car sees occasional street use so I guess I'll keep the sway bars. I think I'll just do away with my ebrake altogether I don't ever use it. I kinda like the sparcos better and use aluminum brackets. I think ima put a slider on the driver seat just in case. Do you have any weight goals in mind? I think ima stop when I get sub 2600 haha which should be plenty light. I know I'm never gonna put a cage in my car the tracks around me ain't strict at all. In the end it'll prolly become a full drag car so I can do a fuel cell I'm sure that'll save some pounds. In the meantime ima buy me a treadmill and get to jogging.

FYI, the OEM oil cooler with the associated mounting brackets weighs five pounds even—that's drained of oil, so if you account for the amount of oil that would normally be in it, plus the two long lines that go to it, it'd be closer to 7 pounds.

For a drag car that is only being beaten on for less than 30 seconds at a time, sure; go ahead and delete the oil cooler.

For a street car, I don't think it's a good idea. Doesn't matter how many miles you drive at a time. In terms of heat management, most street cars have to endure more challenging conditions more than a drag car. What if it's a superhot summer day, you're stuck in traffic pumping the A/C at full blast, your electric cooling fan takes a dump, and you don't notice your temp needle going way up? Having that oil cooler in line could be the difference between damaging your engine, or not.

Obviously, for anyone who does takes their Evo out to the road course or does autocross or rally with it, that oil cooler is essential equipment.
