He could easily run a Datalogging program or a tuning program with that computer in the car, it would take the place of driving around with a laptop in the car.

That is the MR stocker.

Thanks for the compliments folks.
I'll have to get some more pics up soon. I have made a change or two.

Moved the switch panel out of the ashtray. Removed the cup holders and made a carbon fiber switch panel in its place. The original switch panel just wasn't cutting the mustard.

I ran an extra USB cable up to the ashtray. Now, when you open the ashtray there is a retractable USB cable. This will allow quick USB access for my 1gig thumb drive.

I have a LC-1 Wideband and a Tactrix cable on the way. Couple those with ECUFlash and Evoscan and I will have a pretty decent tuning/logging/data display machine.

Wow, that really is a fantastic install. High Five! I enjoy seeing what some people can do. I will definatly be keeping an eye on this thread for more pictures and further tweaking. As far as the HD and issues some people say you will have (which you've said you havn't) is there some kind of "floating" HD mount anyone knows of? Just to play it safe if I decide to do something along those lines.

Small Update, new pics

This is certainly a work in progress.

Defi Blue racer boost gauge steering column mounted.

Reworked the PC switch/led panel. Didn't like the way the ashtray one was working. Ended up removing the cupholders and making a Carbon Fiber panel. Cheap Carbon Fiber, damn, will have to remake it after I get some better quality stuff.

Ran a USB cable up to the ashtray for quick USB access....thumb drives etc etc.

Got the newest version of Mediaengine running and reskinned it.

Remounted both the screen and the headunit so that I could install the trim rings.

Got the Tactrix perma installed and both Ecuflash and Evoscan up and running. Still have yet to delve into Ecuflash....more reading needed. Started messing with Evoscan and have a few gauges up and running. Need to work on more. Also still need to get a wideband setup installed.

Some more pics:

New switch/led panel:

Here is a different view of the DVD-ROM to show tray room:

Tactrix cable install:

Remounted head unit and screen, can also see the USB access:

Installed Trustz Black ACD gauges and the boost gauge:

Running Evoscan with gauges for Voltage, TPS, Knock sum w/ warning LED and RPM with a big Shift light:

More to come I'm sure.
Thanks for looking!

Very nice, indeed.

One quick question. I have the same screen as you and I wasn't able to put the trim on either. I guess you have to do it before mounting the unit, huh?

I'll post up my gauge setup with EvoScan over in the ECUFlash forums once I get them all dialed in.

Also, if you have any questions about ECUFlash, I would be happy to help you out. There is a lot of great info in that forum, too.

Use the cage/sleeve that came with the unit. Don't bother with the stock mounting brackets.
Remove the shroud from around the screen and HVAC controls.
Slide the cage into the DIN slot.
Bend tabs to hold the unit secure.
Pop in the screen.
Make all the connections.
Pop the shroud back in.
Install the trim ring.

No idea why I didn't just do that in the first place. Shimming the units out just doesn't work right.

I'll look for your post on the gauges. Messed with these a little bit today and got the RPM and Knock sum figured out. Still have plenty of gauge work to do. Interested in seeing what you come up with.

Hmm...I'm trying to remember back when I installed the screen. I'm pretty sure that I used some sort of mounting brackets. Maybe that's why I can't fit the trim ring onto the screen unit. It's like there isn't enough room to get the trim ring on.

I may eventually take it apart again and take a look.

Thanks,
Eric

Hah, Geek Squad cables! Fantastic setup you've got there man! Have you considered utilizing the space in the glove compartment for future additions? If so, what do you have in store? I know that GPS wouldn't be too far off, considering the programs and the equipment should be even cheaper to purchase since you've got a computer in the car already!

Great job! I don't know why some people are compaining. With a PC anything is possible. I have a pc system too and its great. I built it the way I like it, just like people changing the ring tone on their cell phones.

I have Sound Baster Music Extream on it and sounded better than any head unit out there. Right now I have internet, gps, data logging, blue tooth and more to come. Heres a link to some early pictures.car pc
