anyone have a set up like this? I am looking for more base, but dont want a box in the trunk. I am considering JL Components up front, with 7" JL subs in rear with a 75X4 JL amp.

anyone have anything like this currently, and how does it sound. please note there is never anyone in teh back seats so this is mainly for sound quality up front with a touch more bass.

Last time I checked JL did not make free-air subs. You could drop some in there but they won't sound worth a damn. That is unless you plan on building an enclosure for them.

 

Yeah, JL's subs aren't meant to be free air. I'm looking at doing the same thing and pretty much have it narrowed down to Elemental Designs 7kv.2's. They're made to work free air, or in an enclosure, and they'll work with little power, or high power. They got great reviews, and they're only about 80 a woofer. I researched this for awhile, their aren't many companies who make drivers in the 6-7" range that are purely made for bass, and some won't work free air. Most are midbass drivers that CAN be used for some bass. But the ED's are made as subwoofers. You should check 'em out. The key to running free air is that the rear deck has to be completely sealed off from the trunk. Otherwise it won't sound good. Also, I'd suggest a roll of Dynamat on that rear deck as well. I'm probably going to be doing mine in the next couple of months, I'll let you all know how it turns out.
