After reading this tread, there was useful information but I didnt see anything regarding crossover. I have an Evo 8 that came with the SSL package. I an looking to replace the H.U. but I wanted to know about crossover. What happens with the tweeters in the front with an aftermarket unit?

I have been searching around for the specs on the stock evo 8 speakers but I cant find anything. I plan on getting the pioneer DEH-P9800BT 22w rms/50w peak per channel and was wondering if that would be enough for now or would you suggest getting a small 4 channel amp as well?

I would recommend the Alpine PDX-5 amp to all who are looking to power all 4 speakers and a sub. It's great little amp if you want to add a nice overall sound as well as save trunk space and the hassle of hooking up 2 amps.It goes for about 300-350 online. Also you will need a HU which has a 5 channel RCA pre amp output to match up with this amp.

I recently bought and Evo and pulled my entire system out of my Civic. Now I am powering 2 rears (6 1/2") and a sub while i wait for the 2 fronts and adaptors to arrive in the mail. I also would like to order some 1" tweeters for the pillars once I have an idea of the wiring set up. Before tearing the door panels and pillars off, I would like to know more about the tweeters in the pillars and how they are wired. I assume they are rigged through the fronts but I am not sure. Anyone have an idea? Any suggestions on some solid 1" tweeters that will fit without any modifications to the pillars? Also, I have a box of Dynamat Extreme along with Dynamat tape, roller, and heat gun which was intended for my old Civic. I have been thinking about installing it in the Evo. Anyone think it's worth the hassle of installing? Which parts of the car are most beneficial to install on?

The speakers are actually 6.5's, but you need a 6.75" adapter.

There was also a SSL package that added a powered sub.

Sub - 8"
Mounting Depth - 4.25"
So... I have an Alpine deck from my old WRX and I just want to buy a harness from Crutchfield to make my life easier. I have an IX MR ("SE") and Crutchfield is asking me if it is 4, 6 or 7 speakers. Sounds like 6?

thanks

I think they are refering to the six, but just type in everyone to see if the model number changes. I didn't notice a difference. I have an 06 SE and the harness I got from them was spot on. Look at the power pack (since alpine)and wiring harness threads to see other info. I still don't know what the orange and black stripe wire was for (chasis ground?). The wiring harness I ordered even matched color for color and stripe for stripe.

Yeah, I bought the 6 speaker one and it worked out fine. I just wasn't 100% sure if the tweeters "counted" or not. I am not that good at this stereo stuff, and I was worried the SSL was 6 and the SSL + subwoofer was 7 or something like that.

Can someone pic a factory mitsu harness tagged with color and function of all cables for both regular and SSL packages (if they differ). I have a factory headunit i'm going to ohm out for another poster and lost the info. Plus it could clear up alot of later questions. Thanx
