EVO Audio Info
Great info here guys but I have a very basic question I am unsure of. I just picked up an VIII and a new head unit and just want to know what adapter I need for it. I saw about the SSL edition needing one of the METRA or MITAH adapters but which one do I need?
I went to advanced auto and when I walked in and asked the guy knew they had nothing for evo's because I was the first one in the town with one.
Thanks in advanced guys!

Hey guys im new here but i hope that's all right to post this in here.
I just bought an evo 3 95' and i need to get some new speakers! The speakers that are currently in the car are two in the back and two low in the dashboard, there are no speakers in the front doors.
So my question is does anyone know the size of those speakers and have any suggestions for an good upgrade without buying an amplifier or something like that ?

Just to clarify, if you go to Crutchfield they sell everything you need to install the new head unit in your car. If your confused about what adapters and what not to get for your SSL equipped evo just go there and whatever head unit you get will include the adapters (this is to utlize the stock sub and amp and speakers, but just changing your headunit)

I'm trying to figure out how to get an aftermarket head unit to replace/ work plug and play with the factory Ssl set up but have seen ppl have issues with controlling the rear speakers or sub- or head units that treat the sub as an addition speaker instead of a sub.
I was going to order a 4 Rca out head unit and both the Mital and metrah adapters but can't get a definite answer if that is all that's needed for plug and play with the SSL.
Can you please clarify/ elaborate on this?

1. Go to Crutchfield.com
2. Enter your vehicle information through their vehicle finder thing
3. Pick what kind of head unit you want. ANY headunit listed for your car, will fit your car AND it will include the Mitah and Metrah adpaters.
4. Make sure the headunit had 4 RCA outputs, although, when i called them they said every headunit listed for that car has 4 RCA outputs.
It is entirely plug and play. I bought the Clarion VZ401. The sound quality is amazing, only annoying thing is the time it takes to load the bluetooth, but im the most impatient person youll meet so youll be fine. It was $299 shipped and included EVERYTHING for installation. If you do decide to use this, you DO NOT have to hook up the parking brake wire. Cut that **** off. Does not effect anything.

Parking brake wire?
put in a new headunit with the adapter integration harnesses for the SSL evo and i get sound to the front speakers and the sub. but nothing to the rear speakers?
I tried switching around the RCA's but didn't help.
there was also a solid blue cable from the integration harness for "power antenna" that didnt have a cable to go to from the new head unit harness?
Any idea's?

The blue wire for me was the amplfier power source wire. Although, it may be different for each headunit.
You will need to retrace your wiring and possibly give the company/person you purchased it from a phone call and request a walkthrough. You are deff on the right track, but you made a very small error. Thats the annoying part of electronics :/
Here is a picture of how it was wired up. only the top and bottom RCA plugs on the right side (facing us in the picture) made sound. i could swap the rear speaker RCA's to the position the fronts show in in this picture and make sound but for some reason the plug in's where there rears are at in this picture did not work.
also the solid blue wire coming off of the adapter harness to the car to the harness from the unit has no matching wire... says its for power antenna
