Well, first of all, I agree, the interior of the evo is not where I would like it to be. Rather than complain about it, and ***** that Mitsubishi didn't do it the way I would like it to, I am changing it.

re-covering the dash in Alcantara (Jesus that fabric is expensive)
Rexpeed gauge pod covered in alcantara
Trustz gauges
DEFI 60mm blue Link gauges
lightriks blue LED conversion
Orbital dual DIN conversion color-matched to exterior of the car
blah blah blah... if you don't like it, change it... it's amazing how easy it is to do something knowing that it's cheap to begin with, so you don't worry about ruining it.

We didn't buy the wrong car... we bought a car that has shortcomings.

Nearly everyone thinks this car has shortcomings...
Shortcomings in power; so they add things like turbo kits, exhausts, intakes, engine management
Shortcomings in handleing; so they add springs, struts, swaybars, bumpsteer kits
Shortcomings in apearance; so they buy body kits, carbon fiber add-ons, tint the windows
Shortcomings in Audio; so they add speakers, subwoofers, amps, headunits.

How is any of the above different than changing the interor?

None of you are purists... modifying your car in anyway... if you were, you wouldn't have purchased an Evo
If you wanted more power, sell the Evo and buy a vette
If you wanted better handling, sell the Evo and buy a lotus
If you wanted better apearance, sell the evo and buy (fill in your most beautiful car here)
If you wanted a Stereo, sell the evo and buy a sound room.

We all change the car to meet what we want... we buy the car as a base, and build it into what we want.

PS, I purchased the Alcantara for $100 per yard from Gulf Fabrics in Tampa, FL they are the US distributer for Alcantara.

What more do you need?
a dashboard that doesn't reflect light when driving through canyon roads., so I am installing the alcantara dash.
Guages that are within line of sight, not down by your knee. So, I installed the Rexpeed pod with DEFI gauges
Tach and Speedo that are easier to seeat night than in Red. So I installed the Trustz guage faces.
a Nav system that's easy to see without a portable system mounted on the dash... so I installed the Orbital dual DIN.

My mods are not to be "Bling" but are purely functional. If anyone pops their head in my car, it looks pure factory.

I'm sure we won't get complaints with the new Evo X

Yea... I too am upset with the Evo's interior. It really is a piece of crap EXCEPT the seats (i have the SE seats ) and the steering wheel. But other than that.... its cheap plastic crap.

But I still love the car!

You be worse. Had a rental Benz E350 once and I thought the interior was crappier than a Honda Accord that cost half as much.

I think that's the best I've ever heard it put about modifying a car!

The thing is everybody will b!tch about something on their car. People cryed for a nicer more refined evo and now look what the Evo X is....oh wait everybody hates it because its now too heavy and isn't as raw. People are really going to b!tch when they stop even making the Evo cause of all the people that cant accept the nature of the car. Yea sometimes I wish I had a G35 or BMW that rides nice and has a nice quite interior but after I drive my Evo for 5min I could give two ***** once that turbo spools and my smile is from ear to ear. I have never driven a street car that can be so exciting for under 70K...thats what this car was meant to do...not impress naggy 40yr old people with its interior. Next time buy and SRT4 if you think the Evo's interior is bad.

Looking at your sig, you thought the Evo power was lacking. Why didn't you buy a Vette? Probably because you could make the Evo what you wanted power-wise. How is this different from modding the interior?

The msrp of a 07 MR is about $36000. Thje mSRP of a sedan 335i is $38900 and you can get 9% off of the MSRP by choosing European delivery which would make the price equal or lower than the Evo9 MR.

So my question to you is: where is that $20000 difference that you "magically" created?
