Question Alpine head unit problem..help..

I have an Alpine cda 9857 and I'm having a problem with the drive motor for the cd coming on without reason. The head unit makes a whirring noise which seems to be the cd drive motor either in eject mode or some other drive setting coming on for no reason. With or without cd inserted eventually the motor will start whirring. I'll be driving using the Ipod hooked up or the tuner in play and then all of a sudden the cd drive motor starts the whirring. I'm assuming it is the CD drive motor because that is what it sounds like. Has anyone had this problem. I bought this unit on Ebay and it was supposed to be new, I have no recourse to send it back now it's not under warranty. Anyone help me out here? thanks...

It sounds like this is the problem. In fact, this is the main problem I hear of when using the Alpine HU's.

^^^ Ummmmm not sure about that....I have an Alpine unit + iPod and have no problems....Just because you bought it on eBay does not mean that you don't have recourse....Contact eBay seller or Alpine directly (they will most likely warranty it)....

The 9857 was replaced later by the 9856 and now the models are 9883,9885, and 9887. Depending on what you paid for it, I would find another one if you can't get it replaced.

On another note, how have you been, Q?

Possibly coming,

We definitely have to hit that Clanton track up. I used to know the old owners grandson. He rides motorcycles the same way I do.....
