no you do not. the only thing u may need to do is take out the headlights to do the install. I got an aftermarket HID kit and i just took them out to do a clean sleek install

that is your best bet

other than that , those Kits are just plug n play

No it should work plug in play. Might be a faulty unit.

I know nothing about the specifics of the kaixen kit, but i have used several cheap ebay hid kits on other cars and on almost off of them I had to invert the polarity to make it work. All cars are wired differently and you might just have to switch the positive and negative on the connector that attaches to the old car-side of the harness. For the price, it seems like the kaixen kit should already be set up to be evo-specific, but i could be wrong. And for the record. not a single one of the cheap (69 dollar) ebay hid kits have failed on me. Good luck.

I have a Kaixen 4000K kit. It's very nice. Well of course your IX didn't come with HID so your low beam bulb will 9006. HID comes with 9005 bulbs for the low beam. If you order a 9006 kit then it's a direct plug and play.

If you do have a JDM headlight unit then you'll need the 9006 - 9005 adapter and 9005 bulb.
