Headlight adjustment

Researched this and only found what ended up being my high beam adjustment where as I need my low beams to be raised for MD state inspection. What I have circled is what i was adjusting and ended up being my high beams. I disconnected the gear assembly and my headlights still adjusted but after tinkering with the gear with a 10mm socket that high beam is pointed exceptionally lower than the other

Next resort is to start taking off the rest of the housing and seeing what I can find. Thanks

the one you adjusted is that little gear above the "cable" in that picture which is the high beam adjustment

i removed the cable that linked the high and low beams, my high beams don't need to adjust with the low beams (if i ever change them) plus i felt i was going to strip the gears out because the adjusting cables were bound up

If you have HID's, what you're going to need to do is bend or cut the metal bracket so you can get a screwdriver (phillips) in there while the headlights are on the car

find a suitable level place, turn the lights off completely, adjust them both, turn them back on

repeat as necessary

I always wanted to do this so the cutoff was even. I'm guessing drivers side is lower so it doesnt blind other drivers.

I should've reread this as I was doing this lol. First i broke the bolt behind the bumper on the headlight mount on the driver side (if anyone has that part number that would be great). So i got the passenger side light off, bent the piece not realizing I needed to insert the screw driver into the port. I ended up taking that housing off exposing the motherboard. Then adjusting the shaft that was running through the motherboard. Upon putting the assembly back together, the bottom port that had the drive gear inserted (opposite of the opening directly behind the "cut here bracket"). I looked in there because i was struggling to reinsert it and could sort of see a gear assembly but wasnt able to actually move it with a phillips.

Question being: Was i supposed to attempt to move the gears through the port? if so, which way? or could you just elaborate more on what you said, thanks!

yea - the opening right below the "cut here" marker is reachable from the engine bay when the headlights are mounted. You'll need a #2 phillips I believe, has to be a screwdriver that will fit in there

like i said, i removed my adjuster cables that linked the high and low beams together (the gear piece opposite the "cut here" marker) because they're extra friction that's not needed

make sure you adjust the height with the headlights turned off or it won't work as they'll try and auto-level themselves

Update:
I got it figured out. For whatever reason i could not turn it from the top like you suggested, Demon. First i adjusted my lights on the dash as low as they could go. I started with the driver's side, I then attempted to turn the high beam cable backwards hoping to move the gear and no success. So i removed my bumper and followed the high beam adjustment cable back to the underside of the housing. I then unscrewed that end of the cable removing the phillips head drive. I ended up matching it with a #2 and I put it in and turned it clockwise, I could see the little tip on the back of the gear housing moving so i knew it was working. For the passenger side i ended up removing the entire housing (because the oil cooler was in the way) and did the same process. When i turned my lights on later that night they were up over my neighbors houses lol so i had to turn my lights back down again

Was it that you couldn't turn them from the top with the high beam adjustment cable attached or you still couldn't after you removed it? I had no luck when mine was attached but once I removed it I could adjust from that top port just fine

final update, got the car through inspection. Driver was 22" too high and passenger 5" too high. Again, attempted to adjust from the top while theyre on the car this time in front of the machine that measures it. No luck, ended up having to take the bumper off and adjust it like i previously said. Luckily the inspector allowed me to do so in his shop lol
