Hey guys so i bought my car with battery relocated to trunk but it was a **** job so im doing it right. I bought the evo x fuseable link. Im trying to figure out which wire goes to what fuse. Does the starter wire not use a fuse from factory? I see guys doing the relocation installing it on the biggest fuse of the evo x fuseable link which is the 140amp fuse i beleive. Wouldnt the quick surge of electricity when starting blow this fuse?

 

I just did my battery relocation over the weekend and used this video as a reference: I didn't use the evo x fuseable link, but at the 17min mark in the video he starts explaining which wires go to which fuse.

 

Yeah I saw that one but the one he says doesn’t know where it goes and put it in the biggest fuse I think is the starter. I thought the quick surge when starting the car would blow the 140amp fuse.

 

The stock 8/9 fuseable link has lower amp fuses than the evo x and they dont blow so I wouldn't worry about it. I also used a 200amp breaker on the positive cable just for extra insurance too.
I think the X link fuses are 20amps higher than the 8/9 so I would just use the fuse that is closest to the stock amp rating for each wire, stock 60amp to X 80amp fuses, 120 to 140 etc.

 

That’s what I’m saying. What I’m trying to find out is if from factory the evo 8/9 starter wire doesn’t have a fuse on it. From looking at pictures it looks like the starter wire is connected to them bottom of the fuse able link which doesn’t have a fused. This is why I’m worried about putting it in the 140 amp spot of the evo x fuse box. If it’s not fused from factory it’s probably because of the quick spike of voltage when starting car.

 

Look up the Everyday Metal Design bracket if you need a mount for the fusible link. It also comes with info on how it's wired.

"1 60amp that goes to the ACD, I used an 80amp link for this one
1 unfused that goes to the under the hood fuse box, fused there at 60amp which I connected to an 80 amp link for this one
1 fused 100amp that goes to the alternator, I connected this one to the 120amp fusable link.
1 unfused that goes I don't know where... (black with blue stripe) I connected that one to the 140amp link on top.
This leaves 1 80amp link unused."

So yeah just use the 140amp, others have done it this way too.

 

Ok I’d probably do it that way. I looked at every day metal design but there’s no instructions. I’m making my own brace.

Also, I think the "unfused" one he is talking about on the 140amp fuse is the starter, though Im pretty sure it actually is fused because the metal spot it connects to on the stock link is stamped with "100" so it must connect to that 100amp fuse inside the link.

Are you trimming the evo8/9 starter and alt connectors to fit inside the exo x fuse link?

 

Not sure. Haven’t gotten there yet.

 

Please report back when you get there . I've stop there as I'm not sure if I need to trim the connectors or run new wires with smaller connectors.

 

I think from the how tos on here people are using the stock connectors. I made a bracket like the fat house fab one but looking at the cables I’m not sure they’ll reach. I wonder if with that bracket you’re supposed to extend them? I’d hate to do that. If that’s the case I may try and find another place to set the fuseable link. I’m here sitting outside pissed off. It’s pouring rain here every day. I’m trying to get this done.
