Try recirculating your BOV and see if it stops.

 

Im driving my buddies 240 w/ a sr20 swap and it sounds like a pop corn machine

 

this should be normal if u are running a cat delete. Its not backfiring though, backfiring is when fire goes back to the intake from the cat, what is happening to you is that since you are running RICHER than stock, the unburnt fuel gets burned in the back of the exhaust and makes that loud popping sound. Hope this helps.

 

One of the reasons is also because you are running rich.

 

Mine only seems to do it part throttle shifts. Not under hard WOT runs...

 

hahaha... i started this thread awhile back...

quick update... i've got about 20k miles on the car... with the addition of the Greddy Type RS bov (VTA)... my pops stopped... could it be because i was recirculating? the problem at hand now is that... every now and then... after a relatively hard *spirited* drive... revving the throttle a bit... *boom!* a nice flame lights up my background.... now would that be normal considering that i'm catless?
