I just dont see how you could run richer when the factory fpr is stil controlling the fuel.

In theory, it shouldn't. In actuality, it does cause some change in A/F at WOT. A possible explanation is the capacity of the pump may be able to stress the ability of the return line to bleed the excess pressure under certain conditions.
