Opinions! - What is the best air intake system for EVO VIII?
I agree. The stock box is good enough. You really don't see a significant HP gain if any at the dyno if you install an aftermarket intake. I personally like the HKS RS for the looks/sound and maybe an APS cold air intake for "better" performance.
Just our bolt on filter kit made an additional 6 whp, no other changes, just bolted on the filter. We now also have a new MAS pipe that eliminates the need to change the intercooler plumbing and battery kit. It also eliminates any and all driveability issues related to MAS pipes and filter kits. I am not kidding here. 2,000 miles on our RS now and the driveability is absolutely 100% as good as bone stock, no idle issues, no stalling issues.
The car has NOTHING on it for tuning, nothing. NO AFC, NO flash, NO V PRO, NO AEM.
As of now the car runs our new upper i/c pipe, mas pipe and filter, new FMIC and a full 3" exhaust. Car runs very strong.

I've got the HKS RS intake and its awesome! Just remember you won't get a ton of power without a tune, hence why I am getting mine next week but ive gone without it for awhile now.
Search the forums on "typhoon problems", it seems like that intake has been giving people headaches.
