Last night i was driving and i started decelerating and i down shifted to 2nd and it whined fairly loud its. any ideas

That sucks - I experienced a weird whine/hum the other day - TC is blown. This may not be your problem, but if it starts doing it in every gear and changes pitch with the SPEED of the car, no matter what gear you are in, I'd get it checked out. Mine started out kind of suttle and within one day got really loud. Good luck.

 

my car has a whine in 3rd and 4th decel. i heard its normal but my friend just got a MR and i drove it. It doesn't make the noise mine does. Please don't tell me my transfer case is blown. what gives?!!

 

yeah, if it happens more and more its the TC. seems to be happening to a lot of people lately.

 

If you really want to know if its the TC, you could drain a little (or all) of the oil into a magnetic parts catch of sorts, then see if metal forms in a perfect circle on the magnet. That's what the dealer did, and a perfect ring formed from only a few ounces of oil, but mine was making a fairly loud whine/hum.
