when I put the gear into 5th

hello

I drive 03 Evo8.

Few days ago, I raced GTI,
we started off from a street and went on to a highway.
I shifted gear fast (everyone who race does) and
I was in 4th gear at 6500 RPM.
When I tried to put the gear in 5th, it didn't go in but also made weird sound with shaky feeling to my hand( on the shift knob)

Why did this happen???
please help me with this! I want to know that if my car has problem with something....T.T
thank you...

did you have the clutch press in all the way? Could be the synchro. Its most likely nothing wrong, its just the tranny. Its a very intersting tranny.

Some '03s have the infamous 5th gear grind at high rpms.
I just had mine tranny serviced at a dealer to rectify the problem.

I can't shift fast into 4th at 7K+rpm. The 4th and 5th only have one syncro so it's a little pain to get into at high rpm. Our 1st and 2nd have three syncros and two on the 3rd gear.

If it did it again and again then it's most likely the syncro.. I have changed mine couple of times in the past and now 5th gear grunts again and no my clutch is good.. So I guess when it will get to the worest point I will have it replaced along with the other to be in the safe side..

Had that problem on my 03. Dealer replaced 5th gear and it was fixed. Put on 19K after replacement and have no issues.

Or your shifting is faster than your clutch. Try slowing it down.
