Evo 8 oil question.
Evo 8 oil question.
Hi all,
My 2003 Evo is the first car I have owned with a turbo. I have like 4500 miles on her and have had the oil changed 3 times.. with mobil 1 5-30 .. I have noticed that the oil gets very black not to soon after an oil change... is this normal? My wifes little car can go 6k between oil change and the oil still looks brown...
Also, how many quarts does it hold? The manual says 1 thing.. but when I replaced the oil it held a quart less that it stated..
I only have MBC and Dynoflash Mods
Thanks all!
James

It turns black because of the heat (at least that's what I've been told) My dad has an S2000 with a million mods on it and his oil stays brown because he has a big oil cooler system...mine has been turning black all the time and I'm totally stock, but now that it's winter and it's cold outside, it takes it a long time to turn black.
Its something like 4.8 quarts with the Mitsubishi filter, slightly less with the Mobile one oil filter. Its common that the oil gets dark not that long after the oil change, maybe something to do with the synthetic oil. It doesnt mean that the oil needs to be changed, just do it every 2500 to 3000 miles.........
