Knife Edged Crankshafts
Has anyone experimented with, or has had past experience, with knife edged cranks ? Does the engine rev faster ? More potential power ? etc... ? Any thoughts, opinions and information is appreciated !
Easy -
It's a lot of dough for "some" gain. Basically the gain comes from the crank slicing through the oil and the air in your crankcase. If you think your crank is currently losing power because of this, be my guest.
The gains are mostly at high, high revs.

crank knife edged
Some cars it will help on a road course event since it reduces frothing that may cause oil pressure reduction. Popular on 944 turbos. May also slightly increase spool up of turbo cars.
I had a knife edged crank in my 97 acura cl, with the prelude Vtec motor. I don't know how it performed itself, the whole motor was built at once. It did rev to 10,000, with upgraded valvetrain as well, and completely balenced. I would never do it ti an evo, or and forced induction car as I dont think the gain would be noticable, especially at the cost.
i don't understand how it would make spool up faster... you'd get less boost if it revs faster... take per say in first gear you'd run outta rpms before the turbo was even spooled up... if you make it rev even faster and lighter... you're really not gonna get any spool.

If john shep can run 8.7 @ 170 with a stock crank,, i'll stick to stock. I wouldnt touch a knife edged crank with a 10 foot pole. Those cranks come perfectly balanced from the factory, anyone who ever touches a crank will have probs, i've seen it too many times
