hmmm. I always thought one of the advantages the 4g63 had over the Subaru engine was its ability to place the turbo so close to the engine itself so that the exhuast gas would have to travel a much shorter distance to spool the turbo.

Sure stock vs. stock, but thats another thread. Thats what strokers, nitrous, and smaller turbos are for. Being an Evolved member you have to know the advantages of this design with the proper set up.

apparently, i dont. please explain.

the issue isn't the equal length manifold, since there are ways to get equal length WITHOUT completely elongating the manifold (e.g. RNR's setup).

What im curious about is what benefits are to be had by simply increasing the length of the manifold tubing by itself. ??

Alex, that's not a long manifold. It's longer than stock, but you'll never notice the difference. In fact it will only work better.

A long manifold are the gm guys putting the turbo back by the rear end.

The advantages of the length of the tubes has to do with breathing and drivability. With my setup it allows optimum spool where my combo requires it. Remember I am not saying bolt this header to a stock turbo set up with no other work done. This is one part of a recipe of mods to maximize what we want as far as maximum power where I want it.

Thats one of the bennefits with this set up. The heat can escape through the factory vent. At speed it should do wonders for temp. I will have pics with down pipe later. Stay tunned.

How does that fit with the stock radiator? Most turbo kits already put the turbo very close to the rad. I don't see how this will fit, unless the angle of the picture doesn't put things in the right persepective.
