Evo VIII center differential

Is it possible to change the 50-50 torque split to 35f-65r by simply changing the planetary gear set? I don't know where one would find different gears, but it seems like this should work.
Cheers,

Are you talking about a permanent 35:65 split or about basing a active, variable set-up around a 35:65 split as a default setting?

Cheers,
It's not very fesiable to try and do it your self (unless you happen to own a very good machine shop ). If you DO have the capability to make one you could sell a bunch!

Cusco does make one for the VII (that will fit) It sells for about $1600 and not only does it change the torque split but it gets rid of the viscous coupler and replaces it with a faster reacting, smoother clutch pack (which is abjustable, locking wise, by changing the preload).

I mentioned on a previous thread that we need to find a source for a group buy

We've had so many threads on the center differential. Everytime I log on, I see a new topic about it. Anyways, if you want to have a nice differential, why don't you just wait for the 2004 Evo? I would think they would put ACD on there especially because the STi is coming with DCCD.

Since Europe is getting the same spec (as far as the diffs go) all the U.K. tuner shops will be stocking the 35/65r diff. I wonder if Cusco recognises the demand that will exist for it in a few short months

1. Because I don't want to wait

2. Because I don't want AYC which will probably come with ACD (and the price will probably go up to STi levels)

3. My goal is to build a track worthy VIII (think 80% JUN Hyper Lemon EVO) and Cusco mechanical diffs seem to be the most track worthy as far a balance/ predictabily and price

Oh yea I didn't start this thread...I just cant resist posting on this topic

The thing is that nobody even mentioned ACTIVE differential here just so it wouldn't remind you of the other threads that we have/had on this subject. Until your post...
