Tapping after CAM install
I've got some ticking and this seems like a pretty important distinction in the procedure. Leaving them full of diesel would be about the same as leaving them full of oil which is how I did it on my old 240 with good results. Is there a general concensus on this? I'll break out my old Eclipse FSM's and take a look if i can find them.

Bleeding the lifters/lash adjusters is so easy, I'd just do it prior to install anyway. I used a paper clip the second time I redid the lash adjusters, after finding out my rocker arm had come off the first time. I have the JAM no-tick lifters, and haven't had any ticks since.
Sorry to bring this back, but rather than get *****ed at for asking the question without a search, there is proof that I searched and read the full 12 pages first.
Has anyone had success bleeding the lifters AFTER the ticking noise has been happening for a while, without replacing the lifters? I bought a car that has cams, it ticks. Bleeding the lifters is no problem for me to do, but just curious if it is actually worth it at this point, or I should just replace them.
Thanks in advance.

You don't need to remove the lifters. When you use the pin to collapse the lifter, Just push it down.
I would just like to hear from somebody that's had the tick, and what they did to successfully eliminate it.

will a colapsed lifter cause any damage? The other night I hit the limiter and afterwards its sounds like I have a colapsed lifter or two...
- it has a loud knocking sound and sometimes struggles to idle
- when I rev it up past 3000rpm the sound goes away
- after a long drive the first time it started, it went away
- but when I started the car the next day it was back.
Think its just a colapsed lifter?
Can it cause any damage?
Can I drive it to the shop or should I tow it?
Thanks

ok, pulled my cam gear cover off and I found the problem...
bolts on my adjustable exhaust cam gear came loose, dialed the cam back in and tightened them up and seems fine now...
noises are gone... hopefully it didnt cause any permanent damage.

Update: my "drop in" JAM lifters have ticked since install. Pulled them back out. Bled & filled with diesel fuel per service manual. One lifter wouldn't hold pressure so replaced it with an OEM lifter. Seems JAM accidentally sent me a bad lifter. Oops. Hopefully having ONE stock lifter will work.
We'll see how this method works.
