dryad001,
I know what you are saying about the spring of the pistons in the lifters. After you bleed them they still feel springier then a mechanical spring. It's almost as if there is 2 chambers for oil in the lifter. I'd like to take one apart to see the design but then my car would run like ****.

If you want one of my old ones, gimme like 2-3 dollars for shipping. I'm getting sick of seeing it on my kitchen table.

I found out today that the heat cycle tick is not my lifters, its the injectors.
I inspected and bled all 16 lifters today and all were fine. Primed the engine and started her up, purred like a kitten, then the tick started then it got quiet again. I used a stethoscope (sp?)to locate the where the tick was coming from and found out it was coming from the injectors.

BTW I ordered the $11.99 lifters for a 2g and the EVO lifters are twice as tall...

I know the 2g lifters are a little taller but I highly doubt that will be a concern. Actually did you order the revised 2g lifters, they are actually a different PN from Mitsu.

Anyone wanting to find a noise like this who doesn't have a stethoscope can do it with a long screwdriver.

Actually the 2g lifters where smaller in diameter and shorter in length. The parts guy at large import and european parts house distribuitor told me that for the EVO lifter I would have to go to the dealer.

Now that took me way back... under the shade tree

I'm still pondering the lash adjusters... problem is I have "no time to think" these days.

I still have yet to own a stethoscope. I guess my ear is just tuned to a screwdriver.

It looks like the first design 89-90 is MD124739
Second Design 90-96 is MD149309
Third Design is MD337687
Evo is MD377054 and is listed as the Replacement part for all of them.

I'll check with them with these part numbers tomorrow...it wouldn't be the first time they have given me the wrong part.

First, just like Jorge T said, I have found most "ticking" in the head area to be the injectors. Some aftermarket injectors are pretty loud. Second, while I certainly understand and respect what timzcat has said, the HKS cams cannot cause problems due to increased lift because the lift is not increased with these cams, only duration. The ramp rates may be higher, but not lift.

Huh?
HKS Cams are 10.8 In and 10.2 Ex
I forget what stock is but it is not over 10mm.

The stock specs are in a couple of threads here.

Stock Cams Lift:

Int - 10.0mm
Exh - 9.5mm

I would expect all of these lash adjusters to have the same diameter since the latest (Evo) is the relacement part for all. Which means the bore in the head is the same on all.
