At this point the noise has all but gone away. The remaining noise is currently coming from the intake side of my number 2 cylinder. I am going to replace all of the lifters just to be safe. I think if I wouldn't have left the install incomplete overnight, this would not have happened. But no use crying over spilled milk.
Thanks to all for the information.

You can replace the bad lifter without removing the cam so it's not a bad job.
One is cheap to replace but all 16 will not be so cheap.
They will basically never bleed down on their own.
dryad001 is shipping me a lifter so I can disect it and see the design of the check ball inside.

If I did the whole cam install I'd have to add in the springs and retainers because of that whole issue.
with this ticking sound is it pretty noisy and noticable i dont think it is happening to me but i keep putting it in my head i put my head to the valve cover and can hear things inside but not a tick?
should i stop freaking out lol

Some noise is not abnormal. With the hood closed and walking by the front, etc you should not be hearing a ticking noise. Or sitting in the car you should not be hearing a ticking. A bad lifter will tick almost all the time and you will hear it. If you have trouble determining if it's injector or lifter you are probably too ****.
Is there a rubber seal around the valve cover or is it a sealant? Kind of off topic, but I was curious. I would assume if it is either, it would need to be replaced, no? Well, at least the sealant.

I replaced all of my lifters/lash adjusters. The prices that I have seen range anywhere from $11.99 to $24.99 that I have seen on the web. I got a set for a really good price from Jackson Automotive Machine. They are located locally in MD, and have great customer service.
I found that the innitial tapping was the lash adjusters, but later it was a rocker arm. It fell out of place, possibly unseated due to a bad adjuster. I turned the engine over at least 5 times by hand before reassembly, and everything was fine, but....
Luckily no damage to the valve, valve spring, retainer, rocker arm, or CAM lobe. The car runs and sounds great, now.

How hard is it to replase both the lifters and lash adjusters. If the rocker arm was off would you notice anything besides a ticking? I have really loud ticking that goes away after the car is warm and in warm weather it is much less noticable(quiter). Any thoughts?

If a rocker arm fell off, then that valve wouldn't open, so it would affect how the car runs (idle, power). Unless the rocker arm was being hit by the cam's movement, you wouldn't notice any sound from it.
