Damnit, someone just tell me the friggin Truth!

Ok I am getting frustrated with supposed "high performance" shops. I am shopping to get a new clutch installed, and when the subject of Transmission oil comes up, they always tell me 2 different things. One shop will tell me that the Transfer Case and Transmission share oil. Another shop will tell me that they do not share oil.

Now I always thought that the Driveline had 3 separate oil areas: Transmission, Transfer Case, and Rear Diff. And out of those three areas, the Transmission uses GL-4 and the Transfer Case and Diff uses GL-5. So how the hell can they share oil?

Sorry for being frustrated, but im venting (I dont like attitudes that I dont know jack on the phone)....and in this case, who knows I might not

They do not share oil in general. But, the transfer case has a small opening that allows a little bit of oil to get to the transmission. This does not mean that you can use the same fluid for both. Use Diaqueen for the TC and whatever the internet told you for the tranny.

I think the main problem is that shops are still treating the Evo like a DSM.

Edit: I thought I was right, but I just wanted to vent...thanks guys.

Some nice reading especially from Mike W@RRE:
http://www.socalevo.net/forums/viewtopic.php?p=79475
"And just to keep you thoroghly confused, your FRONT DIFFERENTIAL is inside the transfer case but is lubricated by the transmission oil. The CENTER DIFFERENTIAL is inside the transmission and also is lubricated by the transmission oil. Only the ring and pinion of the transfer case get lubbed by what ever oil you have inside your transfer case. The VISCOUS COUPLER happens to also live inside the transfer case but it has it's own special silicon based goo sealed inside."
