Cams with stock exhaust? opinions on my upgrade path..

Just wondering your thoughts. I was either going to go tbe without cams or vice versa. i would like to keep it quiet and dealership friendly.

I'm getting dynoflashed (base flash) in a few weeks and was thinking that i should get flashed for the cams and fuel pump(if i need a pump for cams) then i could add an exhaust later without requiring a reflash.. good plan?

I'm not planning on going crazy with my car but you never know..

So you are saving an extra $100 by not having to be reflashed later. I don't think it's worth it. You probably won't even pick up much with the cams by having that restrictive exhaust still on it. I think it's better to get the parts first, and then the correct tune afterwards.

No, bad plan. Exhaust comes way before cams. Fuel pump and cams can come together. You could do the exhaust, not get flashed get cams and pump then get flashed. There is no reason to flash for exhaust only.

I ran cams, xede, pump and DP with stock cat and stock cat back exhaust. Gained 10 whp with catback and 17 whp more w/test pipe I miss the quietness of the stock exhuast but love the extra 27whp.

Without a tbe you won't get all the power out of your mods. Atbe should be one of your first mods because it will help with the rest of your mods.

Yeah they do, but you still have the restriction of the downpipe and exhaust.

There's many reasons why people do exhaust first....But look at it this way. Evos thrive on exhaust flow because of the turbo, the more flow the better. Exhaust gasses can escape much faster with a free flowing exhaust, and the hp gains are noticeable. get a TBE!

You get detonation a LOT easier, flowing all that air just to get choked up, not worth it.

Exhaust first without a doubt, you will see huge gains. If you are worried about noise there are quiter systems out there too.
