broken turbo

well we found out why my car lost all its boost.....we pulled back the front heat shield and the arm coming from the wastegate going up to the turbo broke off at the joint on the turbo.....i wonder if i can just buy that part or do i have to replace the whole turbo?.....i can't really look close enough to see if i can unbolt it out of the turbo housing...any suggestions...it broke right at the end of the wastegate arm going to the turbo....

i don't think its the wastegate.......its right on the turbo housing where the arm comes up....i've never replaced the turbo before on this car...i'm not sure how it all bolts together but its a bracket on the turbo that actuates the wastegate correct?...its the piece on the turbo itself....can i replace this...it doesn't make sense ....it seams like a weak point

So is it the arm that rotates? Or is it the arm that pushes the piece that rotates that broke?

The piece that rotates is attached to the turbine housing. The piece that pushings that arm is the wastegate actuator and is easier to replace. There should only be 2 or 3 bolts holding that to the compressor housing.

Take some pictures, then we can point you in the right direction. And once you have the pictures you can then call up some of the larger shops which probably have stock turbos collecting dust.

hmmm...now its the piece of metal that is attached to the turbo itself....there's an arm that comes off the turbo on a 45 degree angle then that is attached to the wastegate arm.....its a lever that opens and closes something inside the turbo......i'm pretty sure its attached to the turbo housing itself and isn't a replaceable part...i'll probably have to buy a while new turbo housing....it broke right at the point where it attaches to the turbo....i was at the track last week and the car gets to 240 or so degrees ...maybe it got too hot and it weakend it
