wow, check the other 3,000 threads on this subject.

Mine started stock at 9K miles (41K now w/P2 flash, 3"TBE). Happens primarily around 3800 rpm, doesn't always do the stutter. But when it does, it's at light throttle usually. I can just lift and push the throttle a bit harder. But it won't go away until I reset it @ the fusebox under the hood. I have tranny issues as well and know one day I have a rebuilt to install, but for now I'm operating.

I went with the CReader. I used a velcro strip and screwed it into the dash using the screw that holds the bottom of the interior panel under the wheel on the right.

I still get 0300s. I check every damned time the light comes on and make sure it's an 0300. After a few seconds it resets the code. No more pulling over and popping the hood.

It's working for me (the first one I bought died, no word on warranty yet). I'll try not using it after my next flash and/or when the tranny gets replaced.

YMMV...

Hey Kazz you and I are mirroring mileage.

So tell me more about your tranny issues. I don't have any tranny issues that I am aware of, just an occassional operator-error-induced crunch into gear.

Webguy3301,

Hey there! Didnt you at one time have an s2000 also? Anyway, try to get the Creader, it's only $45 and it will get rid of the misfire. I got the misfire every day, at least 10-20 times a day. The stuttering was extremely annoying. It's a cheap fix until you can get a permenant one.

Hey bro, no but I almost purchased one, on a number of occassions. That along with an NSX and an M3. Hopes and dreams shattered by the failure of my lawsuit.

I think I will try this creader thing. I got the misfire about 40x yesterday running up the freeway for about 1/2 an hour.

OK so I went out today and got a creader (since my ebay one got shipped to the wrong address).

FYI they are $39.99 on sale at Harbor Freight right now... BUT

It doesn't ****ing work! The way you use it is simple: plug it into the OBD port and wait for the code. It says "Launch" then "-" ... "-" ... "-" ... "-" then "E"... and that's it. Error. Nice.

So I left it plugged in all the way home (about 15 miles down the highway) then went for another 10 miles or so on the highway and no p0300 issues... interesting. FYI I just reset my ecu so the threshold for the misfire code was reset as well. Normally though I'd see it after just a few 5th->4th downshifts.

So it appears to be working, I'll be evaluating it all this week to see what's up. It concerns me that it's reporting an error, that sucks, no code reading/clearing capabilities. Also it appears to NOT be power-switch aware, so it's on all the time, always scanning and cycling even when the car is off/keys are out. So I'll remove it when I park/turn the car off for this week of testing.

I plan to buy a real OBD scanner tool at some point to see if _that_ will work, but I'm really disappointed that I couldn't see/clear any codes with this thing. It's a cheapo piece of electronics, but if it clears up the p0300 issue with no bad side effects, it'll work for me until I get a standalone I suppose.

Comments?

yeah, one is for volvos and VW's I think, that one won't work for Evo's. The other model will, make sure you purchase the correct CReader.

OK I got my NEW creader in today... thanks to ebay seller "hocell" -- and it works!!

So it seems the creader with the all-english manual is the one you do NOT want, the other one has a manual with mixed languages most notably japanese.

Time will tell if this solves my p0300 issues for now... will be driving w/ it for the next few weeks and will report back.

I bought a code reader called actron, this only works to read codes and reset cel

I then bought the creader and at first I thought that was working but it still misfires, the creader just resets the stupid light.

I then went to the dealer today and paid them to update the ecu with the latest software.

on the way home I drove on the freeway for about 10 minutes and no misfires so I've got my fingers and toes crossed that this reflash fixed the problem.

OK today I got in the car and warmed it up and drove about a quarter mile and the check engine light comes on in third gear with no missfire so I pull over and plug in the creader and you guessed it 0300 code.

I think that the ECU is still learning with the new flash

at least it didn't misfire.
