I haven't done all my research yet but I've heard the AEM EMS eliminates this issue... the downside is that it's complicated and expensive, if you do it right (EMS, wideband, tune, maybe some gauges lol) you're over $2k in no time.

Hey are you the same MYFIRSTEVO over on socalevo.net?
yupppp!!! why??

hey have you tried the "creader" thing? i heard that it works.

also, will this limpiness damage the motor in the long run you think? or it's just a safety precautions that the ecu doing to protect the motor?

I don't know about any long term damage. I am thinking no, because it's just a timing adjustment designed NOT to grenade the engine, and since there's no real misfire even occuring, I really doubt any damage will come about. Just don't sit on it too long when it's "misfiring" you know?

Haven't tried the creader thing, seems too hackney'd for me.

Oh and I just saw you had some stuff 4 sale over there, I think... correct?

I've been having this p0300 problem for months now..I am so sick of it... I just keep my obdII scanner plugghed in, so when the CEL and misfire happens...I just delete and keep driving..until 20 mins later..it happens.

Thats why I have HKS VPRO standalone goin in 2 weeks. Just cant stand it anymore. I just hope the p0300 dosent affect the VPRO, since the vpro uses the stock ecu for cold start, immobvilizer and other small things..EVERYTHING else the vpro will control.

I have been living with it since Jan 2004, it's just become part of the car's characteristics at this point. Sucks, hence why I'm going standalone soon!

mobounce, what's this VPro you speak of??

HKS VPRO...standalone that installs like a piggyback, but is 100% fully tuneable! just like the AEM EMS, but better drievability IMO!! The only downfall...it is not user tunable, you must be tuned by a HKS sanctioned pro shop only... but, if you want to set and forget..the VPRO is awesome! if you like to tune your own vehicle, and tinker... AEM is the way

Interesting... so that being the case, do they provide support for their tune once it's completed and setup? What's this thing cost?

I got the p0300 problem too, but I got it fixed by replacing the spark plugs.

Don't worry...it will be back...and carry a gun when it happens...cause you'll wanna shoot your ECU afterwards

Couldn't agree more. I went p0300-less for about 500 miles on my new plugs (stock replacements). Now it's back of course.

Interesting... I don't think you qualify for the lemony-scented p0300 issue, this sounds like a straight up ignition failure. How are your injectors doing though?
