guys, it happens to many manual transmission cars, esp in the summer. the parking brake causes the pads to rust/stick onto the drum. Next time have someone stand near the brake and they will tell you where the noise is coming from. It has happened to my last 4 manual transmission cars.

i dont think its the brakes i get it too. sounds like someone hits the rear diff. with a hammer. and it feels like that too i dont think brakes coming unstuck will have that affect. i used to have it at start up when its warming up i used to get 2 small clunks in the rear and i havnet even started moving or put it into gear it has stopped now for some reason.

Try parking without using the parking brake. See if it does it the next day.
