Buschur exhaust Question

I am trying to pick an exhaust setup to go with and I wanted to ask you guys a question.

I am trying to figure out which one of these setups will be louder. Keep in mind this is all buschur stuff.

3" downpipe to test pipe to 3" with magnaflow catback. Or a 3" downpipe to 3" high flow cat to 3" buchur catback.

Does anybody know which one will be louder than the other and if so is one alot louder than the other. Or would they be about the same and if so which one do you think would make more power.

I have the test pipe with magnaflow exhaust. It's about perfect with the right amount of noise under full throttle and quiet around town. I would stay away from the Buschur muffler as it has little noise reduction.

I agree with clappton, I have used all four combinations (buschur muffler with testpipe, buschur muffler with high flow cat, magneflow muffler with testpipe, and magneflow with high flow cat). Best for cruising around listening to music, or if you have a family is the magneflow with high flow cat. I run test pipe with magneflow most of the time so I can run leaded fuel if the notion hits me. The buschur muffler is loud as he11. But for all out racing it is significantly lighter than the magneflow muffler.

So fourdoor is there a big difference in sound between the Magnaflow with no cat vs high flow cat? Also how much of a power difference do you think there is between the two?

I have the Buschur TBE with high flow cat, and Magnaflow muffler. I wanted to hear it without a cat, so I installed a test pipe that I made at the shop while installing the exhaust. It was noticably louder with the test pipe instead of the high flow cat, but not so much louder that it would detract from the normal aggressive tone.

I ended up installing the cat because I felt it the right thing to do environmentally speaking, and also because the test pipe I made was standard aluminized steel taken from the scrap pile.

Oops, I didn't see the last question of your post....

I believe that Buschur discovered a small gain of around 5 horsepower by switching from high flow cat to test pipe, and 15 horse over the stock cat.

The car sounds much nicer with the high flow cat in place to me. I did back to back dyno testing at Axis tunning (dyno dynamics dynometer) and there was a 10 wheel HP difference in power between the high flow cat and the test pipe. After the car is tunned by Buschur I will put the cat in place and leave it there until the next time I will be running leaded race fuel. Since I think my alcohol injection will give me all the power I am willing to run on the stock block I will probably not bother with leaded fuel until a year or so from now when I get the block built.

On sound level, the cat makes it sound more mellow and all around more pleasent than the test pipe. I can live with the test pipe, but prefer the CAT.

Put the cat on; it is the right thing to do. Even with the cat on I still hear a fair amount of exhaust noise at highway speeds with the window up.
