For those of us with aftermarket IC piping (esp the one connecting straight to the compressor housing, such as the Greddy)... what kind of issues can we expect?

As the turbos come down in price, and they will eventually, I will be able to do better on the cost. I'd like to see them down to atleast $1350 like they are now.
I don't think you stated whether the $1580 unit includes TME internals. Is this a $230 upgrade over a $1350 Evo8 10.5 20G TME or does $1580 get you a non-TME unit? What was on your RS for the dyno that you posted (TME or non-TME)?

If $1580 is non-TME, how much for the TME version?

Thanks.

BTW, incredible powerband for pump gas!

very useful information dave. So it looks like the 20g is the way to go IMO.

So it would be 1580 + 175 for the high boost actuator which is 1755 all together. Thats still a deal considering what you are getting at that price..

EVO8LTW, the Turbo Dave is currently testing is an Evo9-based-20G. I believe this is not a TME. If you want the TME internals you will need to get the EVO8-based-20G with TME internals.

I'll be getting the Evo 9 based 20g as soon as it is available. Thanks Dave for the R&D.

I have waited so long for this. I passed on the white rabbit, I passed on the original 20G. There is no good reason to pass on this. I am getting one ASAP.

I'm very excited about this too. I haven't ridden in a GT turbo car, but I think it would be too laggy for me. I really like the low-end/midrange of the stock-like turbos.

I think it will be quite an improvement coming from a 2003 stock Evo turbo. I'd also be curious about the possibility of TME internals with the Evo9 Turbo 20G and upgraded actuator, may as well go all the way heh. I know Dave has posted that he doesn't think the TME internals are worth it, but if it's not too much more, I would probably go for it anyway.

Thanks,

What can we expect out of this turbo on race gas?
Any idea on CFM vs. a stock turbo?

But I still think it is too high for an installation kit. The White Rabbit by itself runs 1500. The installation kit for this Evo 9 20g is more than that. Then add the price of the Evo 9 20G with core, that is over 2 grand. Without a core, it would be 3 grand!
I would think if I sent in a used Evo 9 turbo would help but that installation kit costs as much as the turbo.

Please read Dave's post correctly! He is stating that the installation kit is included in the cost with the turbo. You are right an install kit for 1500!! But that is not what Dave is saying.

To sum things up for him:

EVO 8 upgrade to 20g = 800 (you can upgrade this to TME but you have to either buy the TME outright or supply the one you already have)

EVO 9 upgrade to 20g = (on a EVO8) 1580

EVO 9 upgrade to 20g = 800 (not sure on this one)

EVO 9 upgrade to 20g = (on a 2005 EVO8) 1280 (take off 300 because you already have the 10.5 hotside)

I my opinion the best way to do it would be EVO 9 to a 20g with the upgraded acutator so that would be 1580 + 175 = 1755 (1455 if you have the 10.5 hotside)

If I am wrong on any of this Dave please let me know, I followed the entire post and read it carefully. I am not speaking for Dave nor do I have any affiliation with him just trying to help clarify what he is talking about.

Keep up the great R&D and great products!

I'd like to know how much of an improvement this is over a stock IX turbo, and the VIII based 20g.
