Exhaust and downpipe suggestions?

Im looking for a new exhaust and downpipe.

I heard the best sounding was the HKS... is there any difference between the hi power ones besides the muffler tip? therefore the performance is the same, its only a difference in looks?

And for the downpipe, i heard DN makes one that eliminates the need for a test pipe, so it gets rid of your cat converter. Are there any other exhaust systems and downpipes that are good?

I personally have the HKS downpipe, Works HFC, and HKS 30th anniversary catback. I really like this system as far as power goes and sound. Sounds a lot quieter at idle than most systems, but opens up nicely at higher RPM's. Looks and fitment of this system are second to none. I have also tried the Magnaflow Ti exhaust, and as far as I was concerned it wasn't worth the extra money. It didn't fit very well (slip fit design) and sounded way too loud. I also tried the Ultimate Racing test pipe. Fitment wasn't bad and it also wasn't the greatest looking of parts. You also needed to cut your wires to extend them for the O2 fix, which I chose not to do.

Very few systems are true 3 inch systems and the neckdown isn't that big of a deal unless you are trying to create a 600 whp drag machine. And don't forget the catback that won the TPR comparison for most power was the Magnaflow Ti, which just so happens to neck down at the cat.

Funny, some of the cheap ones have no steps, neck downs, or restrictions in their resonators...

Neckdowns in the pipe are not going to affect the performance unless you are at the 500+whp mark. Even then, the difference is minimal.

Well I have the Espelir 2.75" DP, going into a 3" testpipe, then going into a 3" JIC spartan catback.

With this set up the car is slightly louder than stock, still has its deep tone and even at WOT sounds quiet....anyhow.... the catback is a true 3" system with no neckdowns that I have noticed....
