magnesium valve cover

Why is the valve made out of magnesium? Aluminum is just as good......when magnesium burns, it BURNS-intense white flame with MgO smoke

Well, If I recall, magnesium is lighter, but your correct about it burning, but the temp required to ignite it would literally be an extremely hot open flame, much hotter than anything under the hood can get short of the engine burning.

Yes , lol im sure you dont have anything to worry about, there is nothing under the hood hot enough to ignite your valvecover, Some wheels are made out of Mag. also, , its not often you see flaming wheels going down the road either.

I think if you got it hot enough to catch on fire, that would be the least of your worries
