This is why spreading rumors is bad. What you heard from a friend/relative/forum isn't always true. Nothing can be determined until someone has actually tested the intercooler. This intercooler could net 50 HP on the stock turbo, or it could do nothing except add weight. Who knows!? Until someone is brave enough to do some extensive product testing, it is pure speculation. This entire thread is pointless because it doesn't have one drop of fact in it anywhere.

mchuang,

This is what I was referring to.

I am done posting in this thread now. I've given my own personal experience.

sonicnofadz,

It happened. Of course nobody wants to admit that the toy they got from the dollar tree is junk. Test it please. I mean what's the worst thing that can happen? You get a bunk intercooler and some good looking pipes? Heck you've got your money's worth right there.

I haven't even bought the intercooler yet, I am putting the Evo away for the winter to do some upgrades (suspension bushings, balance shaft delete, cams, head studs, head gasket, head porting, etc.) and while I'm flushing my money down the toilet I will also test this intercooler just because I'm tired of the debate popping up over and over again =)

that intercooler looks cheap man. FLIMSY... I could have sworn you said you paid $180.00 for it. I could be wrong though.

They have one that is 24X12X3 which is copied of the HYBRID intercooler from Australia, and one that is 24X12X4. Both have 3 inch inlets

A feed back of EBAY intercoolers by honda members for the haters lol.

The FMIC looks nice on the evo but ofcourse thats because it looks exactly like the AMS one! I still have a hard time buying from a company that I've heard soo many bad things about so I would play it safe and go for the AMS/Buschur or the Turbo XS which is not a bad price 580 for a good brand!

it's your money, spend it how you want to. i'm not a millionaire, so i like to get the most out of my money. that $400 i saved can go towards my son's education fund.

Questionable about saving money as it is very hard to say if the part actually is any better performance wise than what you replaced. On the appearance side of things it looks WAY better though!

true dat, because i couldn't data log correctly or get before and after track time, so i can't tell for sure if it made any difference. but it's a bar and plate ic, so it's definitely stronger than stock. and like i said before, even if it doesn’t perform better than stock, at least i still got the lower intercooler pipes out of it.

I don't understand why ppl are *****ing about the weight? If you had a bar and plate core with the same dimensions as the stocker, it would weigh more. Bar and plate is a HD construction. Its expected to weigh more.

I'd like to have an IC that's the same height and internal/external fin specs as the stock one, just 1 inch thicker to lower pressure drop.
Seeing that this forum has so many intercooler experts.. I'm curious.. How many Fins Per Inch does the stock Intercooler have?

you can't use a radiator or oil cooler core for an intercooler core. You can however use an intercooler core for a radiator or oil cooler core as long as it falls within your heat transfer specs.
