Warning Hks Cam Gears

http://www.utahracing.com/Tech/hksgears/HTML/index.htm

There's a big thread on supraforums on how HKS will not replace these cam gears under warranty. Many other members have seen similar problems. I believe the problem is with both versions of the hks cam gears.

btw the problem was that the timing belts were getting destroyed or wearing down prematurely.

Are these guys using aftermarket timing belts or stock timing belts?

HKS must have sold thousands of cam gears over many years. You would think there would be a lot more threads about defective HKS cam gears floating around the web. Is this a isolated case?

i believe the cases were shown both with stock and aftermarket timing belts. Isolated case? I sure hope so. All hks cam gear users need to check their cam gear teeth to make sure. Destroyed a timing belt? This could be the cause.

I remember the problem being that people were not running their timing belt covers which let dirt and etc get into the grooves and overtime the belt would eat into the gear because of these particles.

A friend has this problem on AEM Cam Gears (I think it was AEM) also.

HKS Re-Designed their cam gear with nickle plated teeth. They still say to run the camgear cover for saftey.

i don't think that matters. Some of these guys ran their timing belt covers yet they still discovered that the cam gears were damaged.

I just got off the phone with HKS b/c I was concerned about my own HKS Cam Gears (the new version). They had only like 3-5 problems with their old cam gears wearing out.

They haven't had any problems yet with the new nickle plated ones wearing.
