Valve Cover vent hole??

Need some help here. Just tonight I noticed that there is a small brass fitting in the valve cover. This fitting is on the back side of the valve cover, right behind the #1 cylinder, just above the bottom lip. It's actually in very close proximity to the crank angle sensor plug.

The fitting is round and has a hole in the center of it. It looks like something should fit into it (little rubber plug maybe?), but the hole is small - maybe 1/8". Is something supposed to be in there? Maybe from the inside? Oil is slowly seeping from this hole on my car, down the block, and I don't know why. The valve cover has been off a few times lately, but I have no idea what the hole is for. Can anyone enlighten me????

No, not the pcv valve. I know what that is. This is below and to the left of the pvc valve. There is no nipple on it, just a hole into the valve cover.

No unsual noises. It's not on the top of the valve cover, it's on the back side of it. You have to lean over the engine and look down to see it. The hole faces the firewall.

Drain hole.
The other end is inside where number one cylinder is. It is there so if you spill oil or get water in the spark plug area it can drain out the back of the valve cover.

Saw it...

No plug. Just a brass fitting with a hole in it. Stuck a toothpick in it and goes in pretty deep.

No leaks here though. No idea what it's for.

That makes sense. I'll pop the spark plug cover off and make sure nothing is amiss. I did have one of the spark plug hole gaskets get mis-aligned a while ago that leaked some oil into the plug area. Hopefully it's just leftover oil from that. Thanks!
