superflyevo, maybe you should call Dirk or the RRE guys and talk to them. Perhaps you are not doing the adjustment correctly??

You have nothing to lose but a few minutes of your time

wow ... b/c of this thread, i think my vision gotten worst .. hehe

but seriously, after reading how ACT stand behind their clutch and how they would support as much as they can, big thumbs up for a company that would do whatever it takes to get the " real " word out to the public instead of just ppl flaming on with ACT's products that never even owned one. i for one have the exedy twin plate due to certain reasons i have instead of going with ACT clutch.. but i have alot of evo friends that has the ACT clutch and can't speaking any higher for ACT.. the way i see things, every product will have problems either with installer, bad part or just driver error .. but to knock a product without even trying, its just plain silly ... just had to put my .02

PS. i hope my flame suit will hold up on this comment .. LOL

I am guessing that most of the peoples problems with thier clutches are simply not adjusted properly. I think these are some steps to help people ensure it is adjusted to the best of thier ability.

1. Jack the car up and put in first gear with the car running. Slowly depress the clutch until the tires stop spinning and see how far off the floor that is. If it is around an inch or 2 obviously there isnt enough adjusting done and it should be adjusted higher. That will probably cure the problem.

2. Ensure that is has a GOOD bleed job, not just opening the valve a little bit and letting gravity try to get the bubbles out

3. If there is no more room for adjustment and it still releases very close to the floor chances are the disc got warped when installing it. Probably from hanging the tranny from the splines or something along those lines (Or forcing the tranny in when it wasnt lined up properly?). In which case the clutch is destroyed by the installer, not the manufacturer.

4. If the clutch is properly adjusted and it releases correctly but it grinds while trying to slam into the next gear it is most likely a trans problem (Synchos).

I know the full face discs are much more likely to warp compared to a 6 puck for ovbious reasons when installing the trans. A 6 puck has alot of area that could bend without actually twisting material where as the full face doesnt have any area that could bend without bending the disc itself. Anyways... hopefully some people may actually take it to heart and when they pull thier tranny to remove the clutch and fix the mysterious problem they should really check on a lathe or some machine and see if the disc is warped. If nothing else seemed to fix it chances are it is warped and if it is warped chances are whoever installed the clutch did it. Just because it is a 'reputable' installer doesnt really mean crap. I had the stealership replace my tires... simple eh? Well they destroyed my rims Hence the only reason i brought it there... they have the money and are willing to replace them instantly compared to a Ma and Pa shop that would have been a battle. Anyways.... I really hope this may have helped someone.
