Help! 5th gear grinding already

Does the clutch pedal feel any different? Did anyone happen to adjust the clutch? If so, that was it (common issue on the EVO). The only other thought was maybe difference in temperature. I have heard issues with different transmission oils causing sluggish shifting when cold. I am no expert on oil though. Whatever the case, I am glad it's now working for you.

I think John from TRE mentioned that shifting too fast will cause the grinding. I gave that a try and i have not grinded since then. Im gona remove the restrictor and adjust the clutch pedal also
i have an 05 and get a crunch/pop sound when i shift into second and third and a 5th gear grind shifting hard and high rpms. The 5th gear grind only started at like 5k miles, but whatever, i dont slam it into fifth that often. When i do i could live with a lil grind, it still goes in fine.

I spoke to Jon from TRE and he said the problems with grinding on 05 are fixed and this is what he told me.
If want the transmission to go from one gear to another the synchronizer will have to bring that gear up or down to speed with the rest of the transmission thus "synchronizing" the speeds so you don't get any gear crunch of the engagement teeth as the sleeve engages the gear...
Now if you are trying to rush a shift, the synchronizer will have to do it's job even faster and this can lead to either the synchronizer blocking the shift because speeds aren't synchronized or if you are ramming it into gear you can defeat the blocking teeth and it'll go into gear with a crunch and some damage to the blocking teeth on the synchronizer.
Now it's also possible, if you shift super fast, that you can get into gear minimal grind or crunch but you will eventually damage the engagement teeth on the gear and sleeve and this will eventually lead to a transmission that will grind. What has to happen in order for it to shift like this is an incredible approach speed of the sleeve, worn blocking teeth, and someone who will commit to ramming it into gear with all the force one can muster with no regard to the transmisson ever shifting the same again.
He also wrote this:
The problems have been fixed but there are several things that'll cause it to have problems such as:
Shifting too fast
Not letting off the gas while shifting
Improper use or clutch adjustment
Short throw shifters
Gear ratioon 5th gear
I havent grinded anymore since i stopped slaming it into 5th so i took Jon's advice on this. Hope this helps guys

To make a long story short the last fluid change I put in BG syncroshift (1 not 2) and went to the track the other day and no grind(!) as a matter of fact I can make all the shifts quicker without the fear of grinding. I think I remember Jon at TRE saying he doesn't like the stuff but all I can say is
it works

For the record, "Jon at TRE has never posted or stated that he doesn't like BG Synchroshift in the transmission."

The paperwork that is included with every transmission that we build stated that I prefer a Synchromesh. At the very most I have stated that I prefer the synthetic version, BG2, for road race or wildly high power transmissions because it seems to cling to the gears better.
