so i still stand by more original statement by the way which was u cant possibly notice the difference. ive driven both and 05 and i have an 03 an we have the same mods and i cant notice much a difference in lag, but he definitly has me top end.

power doesnt necessarily faster all the time.on a timed event you want something that kicks in right away with a linear power band.every little thing when its all about competition not power bragging

im sorry, i understand that its his car, but he is on here asking questions for people opinions and that is my opinion. if the 9.8 hotside does make that much of a difference on the track then i guess i stand corrected, but i just dont see it. its not like we are asking the difference between a gt30 vs a gt35. the difference is that big at all. but ur right it is ur car do what u feel will make u happy!

There is a negligible difference is spoolup of the 10.5 vs. the 9.8. The power difference however has proven to be 10whp+ for the 10.5 and it is clearly the better option. I would say a ported 9.8 would be good too, but not as good as 10.5 unported.

If your worried about low end torque sell your EVO and get a GTO. Lame reason to use a 9.8 is low end torque.

I just went to the 10.5 hotside.....even without a tune I can tell you the hotside has an arseload more midrange. I road race and autocross my car almost every weekend. Rarely do I have have to go below 3k RPM and by 3k both turbos are fully spooled. Personally I feel the 10.5 hotside is one of the best bang for buck mods an 03/04 owner can get.

Even if the 9.8 hotside is a C.U.N.T. hair quicker spooling the 10.5 is still gonna spank the 9.8 in midrange. It may only be a 15HP peak difference but the entire powerband is enhanced with the 10.5 hotside. Don't believe me....go test drive an 05.

Here is a clip from last weekend.....I noticed no lag at all on this track.
