valves tapping

my valvwe jus started tapping today . i opened the hood to adjust the boost controller and all i heard was tapping . the weather has changed, it has got alot colder scence the last time i drove it.(that was on sunday). i only drive it on the weakends i car pull to work during the week.
could ne one give me some insite on y
my buddy has a evo wit less miles and it taps like a mo fo

In 9 years of 4g63 experience, I have never seen a worn rocker. What I have seen in the same inherent lifter tick DSM's have had for 16 years. Cams or no cams, they all get it at some point.

Its normal. mine ticks as well and i have 3700 miles. you also here the injectors fireing too.

My 2003 at 30K is tapping too. It goes away as soon as it warms up though. My 1995 GSX with 65K does not tap at all though. Very weird.

Turning the radio up fixes the problem with the tap.

It's the famous DSM knocks. It lets you know your engine is still functioning and it is making the most power doing so. Now go drive that thing and be proud that you have some fast and good looking knockers :P

If you rev it up and then let fall back down to idle does it still do it.

If it does not do it i would say a collapsed lifter, and it is due to a oil galley plugged up do to insufficient oil. If so when you take apart, you will shake lifter and wont hold up.
