People aready do this and get nowhere near 500whp. You do realize the stock turbo isn't efficient beyond 25psi, and it can't hold that higher boost very long anyway. Just forcing it to run 30psi doesn't mean it will suddenly make 500whp. Remember, we make peak HP up close to 7k rpm. The stock turbo blows a lot of hot air at those rpms when trying to push over 25psi...

i have searched and i can't find curt browns timeslip or times. Do you happen to know his ET and mph? I want to run it in one of those hp calculators to get a rough estimate of how much power he was making.

I agree with you that the stock turbo will not be efficient at all. But i believe if you wanted to be a dyno queen and wanted that 500 number it could be possible. Just like the endless Supra owners blowing their motors on a dyno to get every last horse out of the engine

That obviously wasn't the point of this thread.

Curt ran 123-124mph, which is equivalent to about 450whp on a Dynojet just like Jose Rivera ran 117mph when he dyno'd 373whp.

yeah i know kind of went off topic. I was replying to the guy who said it wasn't possible... found his times:

Curt_Brown10.92@124 Stock Turbo World Record

(EVO vs STi Shootout Apr 15, 2005)

Ran them in the hp calculator thing i have it said around 480... So 450-500 everyday driver does seem like BS. So I agree with you But I think some dyno queen can hit 500 on a dyno but most likely will break the engine or turbo trying.

To get back on topic 350-400awhp is totally streetable everyday with most of the boltons I have on my car currently.

I will have some dyno #'s in a month or so on the stocker. I have never dyno'd a car, ever, but it's time for a change. I don't expect huge #'s maybe mid 450's, id just like to lower the record quite a bit in the spring before putting a big turbo back on it.

I will be using a 4-wheel Dynapack dyno. #'s on the dyno probably won't concern me, just want a little better tune with the new set-up, as long as it runs 10.6@127(or quicker) on the stocker and 9.xx@150 on the AMS turbo I will be happy.

That is attainable...if you take out the pass seat, rear seat, carpet, spare tire, and just about everything else except for the driver's seat and steering wheel. good luck!

Curt,

I have no doubt you cannot do it. You are a record setter since the DSM days. Can't wait to read about ths.

Good Luck ,

Luis
