Engine Blew!!
If it had been knocking I'm sure it wouldn't have lasted him a year. Sorry again Barry, at least your are looking at the positive side about this. It's looking like Henry hurt his motor bad too as he is getting 190, 180, 150, and 180 when we did the compression tests on his car yesterday.

If you do you own Hotside swap (or even if you don't) look at the metal gasket between the Hotside and the 02 housing. Mine was the wrong shape and causing a slight blockage. I had a new one on hand just in case I needed it ($10) so I replaced it.
I had 272I / 264E set up with full exhaust (etc) and noticed improved mid to top end and spool up, better low torque while still off boost as well. I have a Dynorad in the car and it showed an improvement of at least 15-20 HP. I kept trying to get repeatable figure but I had "company" show up and started watching me. Then the car got hit before I could finish testing, but in my case it was like the "other half" of the Cam upgrade. They were great but this opened things up even more.
It is a great mod. I had my concerns in the begining but it worked out very nicely.
I developed a few short cuts, even beyond the How To that is posted on this site. It's written as a companion to it. It's makes it much safer when removing the Ex Mani and Hotside housing.
If you are interested, I'll PM you with it.
As far as porting, everything looked pretty opened up and smooth when I had mine apart, but for your goals it could be an option, A really good ex manifold might be a better use of your money, even though it's more exspensive. I prefer the stock for my level, but every Evo that I have seen in your goal range, goes to a tube manifold.
Good Luck with your rebuild!

TurboTrix stroker kit is looking pretty tempting, haha. http://turbotrix.com/isthebest/custo...me.php?cat=340
at that power level, do you know what duty cycle the injectors are running? You could have maxed the injectors out and one may have just decided to quit. Happens when injectors are overworked.
I'm not sure I'd say that's an injector problem. I think it might have been a cooling issue either with the coolant or the oil-squirters for the pistons. #3 is showing obvious signs of overheating.
I would check the oil-squirters for those two pistons.
