Tilton Clutch Install
I was just being picky about getting 1 big line in the box instead of 2 pre cut lines. Tilton caters to the "racers" who most of the time don't have parts in the stock location. So instead of running into a situation where someone's precut line is not long enough they just give you 1 long line. Nothing wrong with that unless your my Dad who refuses to read directions on how to properly assemble the fittings.
I have had my tilton ceramic now for a little over 300 plus miles (thanks to TTP aka the man) and I am very happy with it so far. I am coming from a street ACT and its a night and day difference. It takes some getting used to (noise mostly), but my asphalt loving left knee is thankful for the lower pedal effort. This thing also grabs like a 18 YO virgin, and spins up rpms quickly, like any bike. It should be called a precision clutch instead of race IMHO.
ran into a little problem with my clutch when I swapped in the 4g64. There was more wear on the Organic disc than on the Cera Metallic Disc. So being the crazy "out of the box" kind of person I am, I took the clutch to a local shop to get the Organic disc resurfaced. I didn't get any before shots but here is a picture of the clutch how it looks now
BTW the resurfacing of the clutch was just 20 dollars...
"New" Organic Disc
Cerametallic Disc. As you can see it is barely worn.

Joey, you sayed the organic disk showed some wear. Was it alot to the point where it had little life left, or half way worn? I know you probably resurfased it since you allready had it out and it was apart. But, for those of us who don't plan to do a swap, that is why I am asking. Mine has about 6K on it since install with about 15 to 20 hard launches on it. So far it holds good and has less noise than when new. I think it took 3000 miles to get a bit more civilized.

Once my cera metallic is worn I am going to get the parts to convert this clutch to a dual cera metallic. Hopefully with the new material I will still have another 6 months on it.
Just halfway installing my Cerametallic Twin Disc, geez. Never fought so much with a car but maybe I've just became impatient as the clutchjobs on DSMs and other cars became simpler. I really hope this clutch is worth it guys! You guys make it sound great

Very interesting! I decided I'm not going back to the track until I get the tilton clutch in. The ACT type clutch doesn't want to shift worth ****. I'm at 12.0 in the quarter, and just want to hit 11s on the stock turbo before I upgrade, but I don't think it's going to be possible. I'm already pulling mid 1.6s on the snow tires...
That being said, I was just wrestling with this choice, the full ceramatalic or the combo deal. My fear is that the slippage will take the path of least resistance. The metallic disc will lock up instantly, and the organic will be forced to do all the slipping and take all the heat/wear. I suppose this is what makes it easier to drive, but my fear is that at the track it will turn into what will basically be another hot greasy organic single... Just like turbos with thrust bearings, organic clutch material doesn't like me.
This just reaffirms my choice to go full ceramatallic. And thanks for this thread, I come back to it all the time...

My stock one laste me 26,000 miles with about 80 track passes on it. And the car was making over 330 Tq. must of that time!
I just can't believe this clutch is only going to be good for lass than a year!
