First thing, does the clutch pedal feel firm now or still drops to the ground?

Flywheel backwards?

Look through the inspection hole while another pumps the clutch.

here is my theory, see if this makes sense...

i think that i might need to bleed the entire system? if there is air in the brake lines won't that translate into the clutch not being able to fully disengage?

keep the ideas coming, i am going to try a couple of things today...thanks for the help

right, but you can still see the orientation of the flywheel. the HRB is functioning, i just checked that, but it does not seem to be releasing all of the pressure, even with the clutch adjusted all the way out...

with the car on do you hear any noise comming from the tranny when you depress the clutch? your supose to hear the clutch discs chattering when you clutch in. if you do not hear that then your HRB is not working.

the clutch discs are chattering. i can start the car in gear and drive it in that gear, 1st or reverse, but it does not want to come out of that gear unless i force it....it seems as though the HRB is not pushing out all the way....the only other thing i can think of is that there is still some air trapped in the line that i have not gotten out yet. i am going to try to bleed it again and see what happens...please let me know if you have any other ideas...

ok, after bleeding it again just to make sure, there is definitely something wrong. the system bled fine....but when the clutch pedal is depressed, you can only see the first disc lifting...the second disc doesn't look like it is disengaging....

i am going to call Tilton in the morning to try to get this figured out...

Sounds like the clutch is not releasing. From you post below, I would want to guess that the discs are not correctly installed? Do you remember if you had the correct face facing the flywheel? I dont know if you can tell from looking at the inspection hole. Also, if you have somebody stepping on the clutch, look in the inspection hole and see how far the HRB extends.

Also, you can try to use a long flat head and while your friend steps on the clutch, gently pry on the discs to see what is caught. Please do this while the car is OFF. It just sounds as though the second disc might have been installed upside down.

Hope that helps, I know first hand how much of a pain that tranny was to get out or in, since aligning the discs was a pain.

did you take the clutch discs apart? If you did you may have assembled back incorrectly.

ok, wanted to give you guys an update...

the install was perfect, everything was done by the book except...

there was a little bit of rust build up on the end of the input shaft, the part that the stock disc did not slide on...so, this caused the second disc to bind up(the disc closest to the flywheel) on the input shaft so that it was not releasing...it never occured to me to make sure the discs would slide ok on the input shaft because obviously the stock disc was working fine when i pulled it out...

anyways, just thought you guys might like to know what happened...and i was thankful i did not do anything wrong...although i hated having to pull the tranny again...
