yeah, my post was unclear. stainless 18.8 (which is the common form you'll find at the hardware store) will be stronger than grade 2 steel (which is the common form of steel at the hardware store), which is what they would probably try to sell I'm assuming. Hence the comment you can't go wrong with a grade 8 bolt. But yes, stainless will be weaker than steel at a certain grade, but I don't know exactly where the breakpoint is, other than stainless should be better than grade 2 steel.

Absolutely, if you can get a high grade steel bolt, go that route over stainless, but I still don't think you'll need to drive 400 miles to get a factory bolt from Mitsu. Sorry for any confusion I may have added to this thread.

I'm going to post this question up in the general forum because it sees a lot more traffic, but i don't suppose anyone can get a hold of one of these bolts for me? I have a feeling if i call a shop who has one of these bolts, it's gonna take at least a week to get to me. My car is in no condition to drive and just a few hours ago i through my 350Z into a gaurd rail after sliding on some black ice. Now i have no car and need to get my Evo fixed quick! So please, if anyone has a spare bolt, or wouldn't mind going to a store and picking one up for me, i'll pay you to have it shipped ASAP! I don't have much extra money to pay you for doing this for me, but i can give you a little something extra for your trouble.

Also, if anyone has a timing belt tool or a tensioner that i can buy off you or maybe pay you to borrow it for a week and then send it back... Let me know. I'm DESPERATE! I'm in the military and have to be ready for a temporary asignment to guam in 2 weeks and would like to have my car done by then.

If you pay the shipping I can send you a bolt and the tension comp. tool next day and then you can get a bolt or just pay me for one and I can get one later. My car is in 2016 peices right now so I don't need the bolt for a while.

GREAT! I'll do it. How do you want to do this? I can paypal you or you can just ship it to me with the fastest shipping possible along with the reciepts of how much it costs. Then when i return the tools and a new bolt (or just money for a bolt), i can send you a money order for the price of shipping you paid along with some extra cash for your help. Thank you so much man. I can't begin to tell you how much this helps me out! I'll send you a PM with my address and phone number. Thanks again!

You're lucky he's going to send you one. I looked all over for one here. They are damn near impossible to find anywere but the dealership.

I had the exact same thing happen to me. Good luck.

Thanks for the great info. Give yourself a "good game" for me. I was just going to do a search for this!

I know, tell me about it! Trying to find anything around here for my car is a pain in the neck. Just by the fact that we only have ONE Mitsu dealer in the entire state (that 400 miles away), should say something about how hard it is to find parts around where i'm at.

Oh, forgot something. Anyone know what the part number is for those bolts? A DSM buddy of mine is helping with the instal and made a suggestion to ask you guys (evoM) if a Cam bolt from any 4g63 would work? We have a chrysler dealer here in town that has a few DSM parts... Anyone know if it'll work?
