Weird problem with Forge MBC

Plus without instructions on what the internals look like, I didn't even think about opening it up. BTW- Did you guys use the the Turbine nipple, or the the BOV method. I was recommended the Turbine nipple way.
Do you have the UNOS instaled on your car right now? From the sound of it, it's not. You should be able to feel the "clicks" with NO problems. Don't worry about taking her apart either. It's VERY VERY easy to do. All you need is an Allen wrench and it comes apart in seconds. But yes, you should be able to feel the clicks and it should turn either way fairly easily.
No, its not installed right now. I ran out of time on installing the boost gauge, pod, and Unos. I also need longer vavuum lines. When i took it out of the box I turned it a little to get a feel but can't recall any clicks. I'm sure it will work just perfect with clicks in all. Its beautifully crafted and I'm very excited to get her on.
I didn't buy mine new, but if i'm not mistaken, the light spring comes inside the unit and you must install the heavy spring yourself. Most everyone rocks the heavy spring right away.
I'm only going on my experience and what i've read, but from what i've heard. No. With that said, let me tell you that i've come to find out every car is slightly different with nearly EVERYTHING. My suggestion to you would be try it with the soft spring. See what happens. Feel out the clicks. Again, from what i've read (not done), when using the soft spring, you'll need to turn the UNOS all the way tight. It will go something like 90 clicks and 19-20 pounds or something. Heavy spring and, for me, 17-18 clicks for 21psi to red line. But again, try it for yourself and learn from experience what your new toys and car can do.
It happened again!! The Forge UNOS MBC sucks! Period. I was showing my friend my car last night and punched it in 2nd gear. I was not watching the boost gauge (was watching the road) and it spiked so high and caused me to hit redline and my car knocked hard! This stupid MBC is going to f*** up my car. Why anyone would recommend this product after this documented problem, I don't know. It obviously could cause some serious damage. Especially because you never know when it's going to happen. Forge has not found a permanent solution (hell, they can't even duplicate the probem), so I'm going with Hallman. If you want unpredictable, erratic high spikes..go with Forge.

I understand your position quite well, after greasing the ball days ago I've had some spikes, but not as often as before.
Anyway, the point is that this is getting pretty dangerous. On Friday night I was showing my car to a friend (just like you did) and I let him drive it. We did a highway pull and when he punched it the boost spiked to 26 PSI, I almost got a heart attack because this happened while my friend was driving, I had to tell him to slow down. Also driving with your eyes on the boost gauge is quite dangerous, I almost crashed for that reason. Spikes not only happen at WOT, I can recreate a 26 PSI spike just by going hard on the gas up to half the throttle.
I'll see if I can fix the problem with a bigger ball (still waiting for Mike to give me the diameter), if I haven't solved the problem by the end of this week I'll return the Unos and I'll get the Hallman. I love and have faith on the Unos, but I think I shouldn't have gone through all this trouble, specially when I bought it new.

Well now I get to join the club too!
I didn't buy a NIB Forge MBC to have to grease the thing, especially since it is brand new, installed barely 1 week ago. I also didn't spend 30K on my car to risk damaging it with a $90.00 mechanical part.
I bought my Forge Unos MBC from Al (I'm not blaming Al, he just sold the MBC to me)installed it last saturday and had him tune my car the following Monday. The car has been running great until now, when all of a sudden I start getting these spikes. This led me to post this thread:https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=179188
Only to find two more threads about the problem w/ the forge Unos MBC.
Mike, Thanks for your install advice the other day! I need your help to remedy this ASAP,
I can't risk driving my car with an item that is unreliable. Is it possible that you have a bad batch thats been released and is showing up now?

Okay, here it goes. I was really unsure about installing this Forge UNOS on my car and for good reason. It's not reliable. I started reading this thread after I ordered my MBC and was worried about the results based on what you guys have said. Well I installed it on Friday with the stiff spring. I drove it on some test runs and boost was spiking at 25 psi. Not what I wanted. I turned the UNOS all the way down and still, the spiking continued 25 24 psi, this time tapering at 16, 17. I didn't have time to take it apart and do more test so I just drove it easy.
I was going out Saturday and opened it up on a nice uphill on ramp when all of a sudden, it spiked super high(not sure where in the 20s, was looking at the road) and Boost or Fuel or Both Cut Off occured! The engine shook erratically, scared the **** out of me! I honestly thought I blew something! Keep in mind, the Forge MBC is turned all the way towards the negative. I again remained conscious of driving slow until I could get under the hood.
Sunday, today I was able to give my car the time it needed. But before I did, I was going up the 78 on the way to Ramona, and I was put in a position where I needed to pass a camper. In 4 gear, I accelerated a little in about 3000 rpm, nothing huge, definetly not WOT, and it happened again! Boost cut, or fuel cut, I'm really not even sure. All I know is that it is a scary feeling especially if you love your car as I do. To top it off, SERVICE ENGINE SOON lights up. F*&!#%g Piece of S*$t.
Obviously the check engine light is on because of this huge erratic increase in boost due to the Forege UNOS MBC. Well after taking the MBC apart and cleaning it thoroughly (keep in mind its been on the car for 3 days) I noticed how much stiffer this spring is compared to the weaker one. Anyways, I made sure the stiff spring sat on the nipple completely secured. I put it back on the car, made some runs with the MBC turned all the way down and what do you know, it held 20 psi consistently tapering at 19 if that. Multiple runs, constant satisfaction. No spiking. I did notice later this evening that peak boost fell to about 16psi. Again no spiking, just constant 16 psi. Damn what happen to my extra 4 pounds. Talk about frustration. Just when you think problem solved. I guess I'll update tomorow after some adjustments. As long I don't get crazy spiking followed by erratic boost cut offs with possible blowing up if the engine, I'm semi content. To be continued.
