As far as mods, all of the IX with some combo. of intake, exhaust, MBC, and flash have showed really solid gains. That is the route I will most likely go.

So what kind of #'s are IX's putting down on a dynojet with mods like full catless exhaust, drop in filter, mbc/ebc, and fmic pipes? Anyone go with a external wastegate yet?

I'll probably get my IX dyno'd at the end of this week or the next.

Here's an attempt to bring this thread back on topic
STOCK Evo IX, 1066 miles
DynoJet @ Mach V (01/07/06)
Peak HP: 251@6500
Peak ft-lb Torque: 247@3750

As for the disappearance of the graph between 4000 and 5400 RPM, well nobody quite figured that one out. But earlier that day another IX was put on the dyno and the same thing occured. Has anybody else had this sort of thing occur on the IX?

No, we don't do external wastegates on the stock turbo on the VIIIs. It's certainly too early to be worrying about it on the IX turbo, and it probably won't be something you ever worry about. That's something you do way down the line when you're overruning the internal wastegate.

But you will get some nice gains with a EWG even on the stock turbo.
My buddy, who has a sti, put a 38mm EWG on the small stock vf-39 and gained a good 20whp over the IWG. I plan on going EWG when I start modding.

Ok, have fun. The Evo and STi react the same way to all mods, and the turbos and IWGs are also the same, so be sure to do everything that worked on your buddy's STi.

Forget the EWG, just get a TBE, MBC, and Flash and your good. I hear (or read on another thread) that HKS will be releasing cams for the IX soon. They were displaying the cams at Sema.

Also evom.net member Wilson1, broke the stock EVO record at Gruppe S (Mustang Dyno) when his IX dynoed at 236.9WHP/243.1WTQ, so congrats to him.

Wow incredible numbers on a Mustang Dyno, although I am starting to believe that Precision Dyno's Mustang reads a little higher than other Mustangs, still I believe it does reads lower than Dyno Jets.

LOL, exactly.

Just FYI, the stock turbo on the STi is an IHI VF39 and the internal wastegate is terrible. It can barely bypass enough exhaust gases at stock boost levels, let alone with a slight boost increase or free flowing exhaust ... hence the boost creep problem. This is why an external wastegate can gain significant hp on the stock turbo'd STi ... it reduces the backpressure ...

The stock Evo turbo does not have this problem.

See the thing is I already have plans for a full catless exhaust, mbc/ebc, ecutek flash, hks cams when they are available, injen intake, and a greddy fmic with custom pipes. Those mods should put me at 350+whp on 93 oct. but I still think a external gate will net me some nice gains. I know it's not needed but it will make more hp out of my set up. I know it will cost me more but money is no issue at all with me.
