Electronic or Manual Boost controller???

hi..i driving a mitsu lancer turbo..its jdm..comes with stock turbo boost cut @ 0.4 bar..i hope to boost to 0.9 bar coz stock turbo is TD04
well...like to ask..which is better? manual or electronic boost controller?

i know they are cheaper den electronic BC...though they are not that fancy n its troublesome to adjust..as its kinda trial n error for adjusting...turn the knob...den go for test run...until got the required boost...dats y they are cheap...
whereas electronic can do it in the cabin...
but which is better at holding boost?
up boost more stable???
Manual BC can over write stock ecu boost cut??

Save your money for other go fast goodies and get a MBC. And yes, you can get one that you can mount inside your car and adjust on the fly. As far as trial and error with these units.. They all are pretty much that way. However, with the Forge UNOS, you can turn these little beauties with "clicks" that you can feel. They can be dialed down with the soft spring (soft and heavy spring both come with it) to the fractions of psi. I don't have first hand knowledge of the electronic type, but for that price, i would sure the hell hope it held boost like the cheaper MBC does. And yes, your MBC will over ride your stock boost and hold it MUCH better.

EBC is very convenience if you want to adjust the boost in cabin or while driving the car. I have also noticed a fast spool with a EBC and it holds better on the top end. Hope that helped.

Thanks,
Tom

it's really a matter of prefrence..how often do you plan to adjust your boost? I, for one, would prefer something that has less "parts" that can go wrong.

You can also do that with an MBC.

My personal preference is boost controlled by the ECU via the OEM boost solenoid. With a ECUTEK (or other, Techrom I think ) flash you/your tuner/vendor can set boost where you want it. You will need a larger Dia. restrictor pill to hold bigger boost. By far the slickest way to do it in IMHO.

If i had unlimited funds, i'd get an electronic. But a quaility MBC will do everything you need it to do.

im also trying to decide what would be easier and more cost effective. i know a manual is alot cheaper. but after reading about some problems people have with the forge . im still undecided.

Pick up a Blitz ebc for around 250 used and call it a day. The ease of use is great and it kills two birds with one stone (ie boost guage and mbc)

Go with the electronic boost controller. I LOVE my HKS EVC 4, I have a low boost setting of 1.0 kg/cm2 and a high boost setting of 1.4 kg/cm2, and it holds boost like a champ. I also love the overboost safety feature where it will drop to low boost if it goes over any of my settings by .1 or 1.4 psi.
