Don't forget there are those of us who don't like our Evo to drive like a T78 Supra... yes all that top end "rush" is swell... but I'm on to something right now that I really enjoy in a TME shell. Sometimes I drive around "out of boost" and just giggle a little... Cruising town in 5th comfortably at 1800-1900 rpm and able to just roll on the gas when needed. There is a lot to be said for that at the pump these days.

Which is more impressive in your eyes?
I still find it hard to believe that

a: Curt's turbo really is "stock"
or
b: Curt's car wouldn't be faster with a properly tuned turbo kit.

And you're also picking one very extreme example...

...and of course I see your point as well. Sometimes we (including myself) have to remember that we all have different purposes for our car.

You don't need a built motor to make the 20G shine. You do need some supporting mods though which you have listed and I have most of those. It made sense to me because I don't just drag race my car. The car's powerband is absolutely awesome. With 390 plus WTQ at 4000 rpm it makes the torque of my 383 stroker vette look bad. I am very happy with a race gas tune that has AFR's in the 10.9 - 11.3 range and boost at 25psi pulling 119 - 121 mph traps and does 97 plus MPH in the 1/8th mile. The cost of the turbo was also considerably less than a "well sorted turbo kit".

Our 20G also did some shining on the road course this weekend. Our 20G is what we used on our new Time Attack wide bodied EVO and we were fastest car on Saturday and Sunday at Mid Ohio.
